Moraine Gives Back...again this holiday season!

It’s that wonderful time of year, and PTA is so thankful for our Moraine community of students and parents; let’s give back to the Oakland County Foster Closet in Farmington Hills!!! A flyer describing the program is here, and will be sent home in Monday envelopes on November 28th.

Moraine International Night

Moraine International Night is back! The event is scheduled for January 20, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm. To showcase Moraine's cultural diversity and celebrate each family's heritage, we would like to invite YOU to participate in our multicultural celebration (don’t forget that includes the U.S.A)! Science Olympiad needs YOU!




Calling parents of 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders for a fun-filled volunteer opportunity!


Moraine PTA is excited to offer Science Olympiad again this year for our Penguins in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade to give a fun way to explore STEAM topics. Science Olympiad is a NationWide program that introduces kids to STEAM to help foster a love of Science at an early age. Moraine participates with the Wayne-Oakland branch and our teams will compete with other elementary teams from Northville and beyond in the Final Tournament.


But in order to participate we need parent volunteers to step up and provide this amazing opportunity for your kids!


  • We need 2 parents to volunteer to take over the program as Co-Head Coaches ... previous Head Coaches will be available to advise and get you through the first year.
  • We need additional parents to volunteer to coach individual events.
  • More details on the attached flyer.

This amazing program can only survive if Parents get involved!

Parent Coffee Talks

The Parent Lighthouse Team is planning to host a “Parent Coffee Talk” once a month. Every month we will meet to discuss each of the “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families”. You do not need to have attended the parent workshop in October to join us for these informal “Parent Coffee Talks”.

We will also be providing an opportunity to discuss The Gift of Failure, by Jessica Lahey, from Mr. Reimann’s summer “book chat”. This will take place on January 19, during the second half of the “Parent Coffee Talk”. This book is a great parenting resource, and truly warrants another discussion for those of you who were not able to join us in August.

The schedule is as follows:


December 15 – Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

January 19 – Habit 3: Put First Things First (9:00-10:15)

January 19 – Book Chat: The Gift of Failure (10:30-11:30)

February 23 – Habit 4: Think Win-Win

March 16 – Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be

Understood

April 20 – Habit 6: Synergize

May 18 – Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw


These meetings will take place in Room 311 at Old Village School (405 Main Street in Northville) from 9:00-10:30 AM (except on January 19). Parking is behind Old Village School next to the library. Light refreshments are provided. Please bring something to drink and join us as we have fun discussing how to successfully (and at times unsuccessfully) implement the 7 Habits at home.

on experiments? The possibilities are endless with chemistry - slime, test tubes,

polymers and much more! Students will take home what they make in class each

week, and the best part is...We Make Science FUN!

Northville Youth Network (NYN) provides valuable programs and services to the Northville Community such as education and awareness, referral services and case work services. As part of the ongoing Social Emotional education NYN provides to our community, they have included resources that are available for parents!
