Prayer
A Prayer for Autumn
Good and generous Lord, You have once more brought the year full circle, through planting and growing and ripening to harvest time, and autumn.
We thank You for the sun and the wind, the rain and the dew, the minerals of the earth and all the plants that grow and all the beasts and birds of farm and field. We marvel at Your wonderful ways of bringing food from the earth for man's good.
Dear God, help us to use Your rich gifts as You want us to. Teach us to share them with our neighbor when he is in need. Make us see, in the marvelous succession of seasons, and in the growth and ripening of our crops, the merciful, generous hand of Your divine providence.
Help us to realize, too, that if we keep Your commandments and live according to the inspirations of Your grace, we shall also reap a plentiful harvest in the autumn of our lifetime: a harvest that we will be able to enjoy for ever and ever, where no rust can destroy, nor blight spoil any least part of it. Amen.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Soccer Clinics
We are certainly underway with a variety of educational programs at school. I am happy to announce that we are able to offer soccer coaching for our students from grades 2 to 8 during lunch on Wednesday and Friday. Our first clinic was yesterday, and the children were very happy. These clinics are free to the school and operated by Star Academy FC.
Festival
Excitement is underway for the Parish Festival, and I am asking for everyone's assistance with donating two liter soda bottles. There will be a pizza party for the class that brings in the most bottles. As we get close to the festival we will also be collecting cakes for the cake booth. A free dress pass will be given to the class that brings in the most cakes.
Staff
During the past two weeks, Miss Matal Sol tendered her resignation to take up a position in a different field. We have been able to engage the services of Ms. Jasmin Mendoza to take over the Spanish class. Ms. Mendoza has a major in Spanish and has quickly stepped into this position. We are currently advertising for a 3-4 grade teacher assistant to replace Miss Matal Sol.
Masses
Friday Mass has begun for the whole school and is working well. We ask that you drop the children in the car park and they can walk up to the church. Please drop by 7.55 AM on the Friday. I also invite you as parents to join in with the Mass.
Visitor
Visit from Associate Superintendent: Yesterday Mrs. Grewal visited the school, and she was impressed by the way the school is presented to people and the happiness of our students.
STAR Testing
STAR testing has been completed, and the teachers are currently reviewing the results and making adjustments to their instruction for your child. We would ask all families to spend time reviewing math facts with your child especially in the lower grades and to create time for your child to read. The more a child reads the better a child performs in the classroom and in life.
Faith Families
Our Faith Families will begin next Monday with the first activity of getting to know the members in each of the faith family groups. Our 8th graders will lead these groups.
8th Grade Retreat
This coming weekend our 8th graders will be participating in an overnight retreat. This is the first time that we have had an overnight retreat for the Confirmation class. We wish the students, Mr. Ceja, and parents all the best for the retreat.
Band
Band will begin on October 3rd. The classes will be held this year in the Annex. Students from Grades 3 thru 8 are eligible to join the band. The fee for the band is an additional $350.00 per student. This fee is not included in tuition. Students were given forms today. The forms are due back on Wednesday, September 26th. A form is attached to this newsletter.
God Bless,

“Home isn't a place, its a feeling.”― Cecelia Ahern
At occurred to me recently that All Souls Catholic School will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next school year. It also occurred to me that I’ve been here for over half of that time. During those years there have been many changes – in staff, in student demographics, in curriculum and teaching trends to name a few – but one constant has remained. The feeling of family and community here at All Souls has always been so strong. For me, that feeling makes All Souls a home away from home.
I have had visits with two former students over the last two days. These two former kindergarteners are now charming young men in their twenties. They both wanted to know about their former teachers, find out about changes that had been made, and marveled somewhat that I was still here. In addition, I am thrilled to be reconnecting with other former students who are now parents themselves and have come back to All Souls for their children’s education. There are five of what I call my grandkids (children of former students) in this year’s Kindergarten.
My prayers are that this wonderful school community continue to flourish for another 70 years and beyond, and that the family spirit never fade. May All Souls remain a home away from home for all of you for years to come.
All the best,
Miss J
