It's happy time Issue 14 has arrived on time. This week's picture comes from the district's Parent Magnet Night. We had a great turn out and interest from over 50 families. Our Leadership Class met with the district painters this week to share ideas and get insight from the experts on how we can best design and paint our school mural. Project Pajamas - Collections End December 9th

We've collected 30 pairs of pajamas toward our goal of 55.If you haven't done so already and have some pajamas to donate please drop them by on Monday. As a reminder, our local Tustin Community Foundation is collecting these pajamas for Tustin area families that cannot afford them.

Exciting Announcement: Senior Activities

We are excited to announce that beginning this year, senior Tustin Connect students will be able to attend Homecoming and prom at their resident comprehensive high school. We are working on finalizing grad night as well. Students will simply need to agree to the same behavior and academic guidelines that the other students are held accountable too. Yeah to our Seniors!

CAASPP Testing Update

We wanted to keep you all updated on new legislation regarding the calculation of school test results as part of the state's new Dashboard results. In previous years, students that did not participate in state testing did not count negatively against the sties' overall scores. They have changed that rule. Sites are permitted to have 5% of students not test for a variety of reasons (e.g. illness or parent opt-out). Any students beyond 5% automatically count against the site for the lowest possible score. This can be devastating for a site. If implemented last year, we would have received far lower scores. We certainly respect your rights as parents to opt-out, at the same time we wanted you all to know the unfortunate impact that may have on our school.

REMINDER: Free 24/7 Tutoring

With the Thanksgiving break upon us, it's a good time to remind your HS student to take advantage of this terrific resource. It really is an incredible resource. We get daily reports of our usage and it's a shame more of our students aren't using it for their papers and all of their coursework. It's incredible. For your convenience, we've included a parent and student handout as well.

Breathing Techniques for Elementary/Middle Grade Students

Please check out the video on some cool breathing techniques for our students from Common, Colbie Caillat and Elmo. Breathing is a common strategy to help students manage stress. It may not be for everyone, but it can be quite effective for many people. https://youtu.be/58AL-R9Tf2A

Quarter/Semester Ending Soon

We only have 2 more weeks before winter break and the end of the quarter for our middle and high schoolers. Please be sure to get all your work in and keep on track. The light at the end of the tunnel is approaching quickly! If you need help or support, please don't hesitate to reach out to your teacher(s) or Mrs. Erickson.
