Welcome back to term 4.

The countdown is on to the famous Frankley School Carnival (November 10). Time slots for volunteers have been placed in each hub for you to add your name to. Mrs Parkes is on the hunt for a Muscle Car for rides on the day. If you have any connections you could share with her she would love to hear from you.

Summer sports have started. A huge amount of effort has gone into uniforms and we want to make sure our children wear them with pride. This includes wearing the correct coloured bottoms. Black shorts are the expectation for touch and hockey. Please check with Wendy Parkes and Lyndon Young if you need clarification.

Celebrations - Frankley School Passion Projects

Well done to Rosie Hawkins and Dylan Mumby. Rosie and Dylan visited Thornleigh park to survey several of the residents before deciding on how best they could involve themselves in meaningful activities with the residents. Their project was published in the Radius Care Publication: Orbiter. There are copies in the office and school library if you would like to have a look.

Brendon Anderson celebrated future focused learning with Kahikatea students by having their 2018 project included in Te Kete Ipurangi. Check out these links to learn more about the process our innovative students undertook and the adults that supported them.

Student Led Conferences

Please make sure you have booked a time for your child/ren to share their learning with you next week. A booklet has been emailed this week to provide more information about the process. If you need any support with bookings just give Robyn King a ring in the school office. Please take note Monday touch has been moved to the Tuesday due to Labour weekend so book around the draw! Thanks.

Staffing Updates 2020

In 2020 Anna Trinder will be working part time, releasing different hub teachers for their classroom release. This will allow Anna to have more time for her family. We have appointed Danika Northcott-Weherua as our roll continues to grow, and Mandy Bennett and Jess Uru will return to work with our tamariki. We will formally welcome Danika to our community in the new year.

Frankley School Vision

Last term we conducted a survey and face to face meetings to consult our community about our current school vision. I have identified the responses that came up most frequently from our children, staff, Board of Trustees and families. This information will be used to realign our Frankley School Vision. Thanks so much for your support. This is an exciting time for our school. Watch this space!

Although today may feel like winter has indeed returned, Taranaki Women’s Refuge is forward focussed on the summer season. Our biennial event Deck the Rooms for Refuge returns this November and with over half the tickets already sold we are looking forward to an exciting day of festive inspiration. We have 8 homes in New Plymouth this year, each decorated with the owners interpretation of Christmas and open for you to enjoy. Tickets are available from our office, Footloose, Trade Aid, Martins or online at https://www.iticket.co.nz/events/2019/nov/deck-the-rooms-for-refuge. It is a wonderful day out for a group of friends, family or work mates; we hope to see you there.

If you are thinking of donating gifts for the women or children we work with we greatly appreciate these being donated early so that we have time to make sure they get to families on time. Your gifts are always given to families who need them and they are overwhelmingly grateful.

Another feature in this edition is ASPIRE Men’s Project. We continue to believe in the importance of providing a service for men who reach out for support and are thrilled to see this programme continue.

A very big thank you must go to Danae Etches who kindly donated her time and talents to write this edition of our Newsletter.

Life Education Taranaki are proud to present our annual fundraising event an evening with SOL3MIO. We need to raise 200k annually to continue to provide our program to Taranaki tamariki. We have successfully raised this for the last 20 years and we need your help to continue to provide our program in Taranaki.

Last year we reached over 92% of children in our region and we are aiming to extend this 2020.

This intimate event will include a red carpet, canapes all while you listen to the extraordinary voices of Sol3Mio.
