Winter Break
Message From The Principal
As we look forward to winter break I would like to take a moment to thank everyone that contributed to our Holiday Helper program at Westbrook and Glen Grove. This program has provided support to 97 families and 238 students at Westbrook and Glen Grove. It is amazing to see the generosity and care from our wonderful community!
We are looking forward to an extremely busy week next week! A special shout out to our PTA for helping to organize all of the snacks and activities for our winter parties that will take place over the course of the week. We know how much time, effort and planning goes into each party so thank you from all of us here at Westbrook!
To add to our fun next week please see the schedule below for our winter spirit week! Thank you to our first grade teacher, Kacie Bratko, for organizing the week!
We also have two special performances that will take place over the course of the week. The Glenbrook South Chamber Singers will be here to perform for all of Westbrook on Thursday afternoon and we will have our own "Winter Sing" on Friday morning! A big thanks to our PTA and our music teacher, Karin Meister, for setting up these FUN performances!
As we look to the conclusion of 2022, I wanted to share my own thank you to all of our Westbrook families for your continued partnership and support. I wish you all a healthy, relaxing and restful Winter Break. Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!
Patrick
Lost & Found
Are you looking for missing water bottle, jacket, or sweatshirt? Stop by Westbrook's lost and found area before or after school.
From Westbrook Literacy Coach - Mandy Freer
Do you want to encourage your child to write more at home? Begin with decorating a writing folder or notebook with photographs and favorite images. This will help your child think of ideas to write about. They can write stories from their lives, design a teaching book to teach about their favorite topics, or write a book about their favorite things.
Outdoor Recess Procedures
Now that we are entering the cold winter months we want to remind you to please send your child to school with winter gear.
- Please remember children must have snow pants, boots, and gloves to play in the snow.
- Please label your child’s winter gear.
- Consider putting an extra pair of socks and pants in your child’s backpack in case they get wet at recess.
For recess, if the "feels like/wind chill" temperature is below 10 degrees children will remain indoors. We follow weather.com for our forecast each day.
CHARACTER COUNTS! Poster & Video Contest
CHARACTER COUNTS! invites students to participate in the 2022-23 Poster and Video Contest.
Over the years, CHARACTER COUNTS! celebrates and reminds us of our power to do good. CHARACTER COUNTS! will continue partnering with the local Hero Hustle Run that annually recognizes heroes.
This year’s theme is STEP UP FOR YOUR COMMUNITY. What pillars of character do you see in your community? What are others doing to strengthen our community?
