Weekly School Update
Dear Parents,
First off, our seventh graders participated in a meaningful service learning project during the ExSEL period. They dedicated their time and effort to writing and creating heartfelt valentines for our veterans. These cards and messages were then delivered to the Midwest Veterans Closet in North Chicago, and from there, they were distributed to veterans in our area, including the James Lovell Vets Hospital. It was a beautiful way for our students to show their gratitude and support for our brave veterans.
In their social studies class, seventh grade students took part in an engaging cross-team trade game. Each student was randomly assigned a country and given envelopes of materials. Their task was to use these resources to produce items for trading. Throughout the game, they had the opportunity to earn money by trading with other countries and overcoming trade barriers. This activity not only enhanced their understanding of global trade but also fostered teamwork and critical thinking skills. The School Board was even involved in this exciting project! Three students, pictured below, presented the trade game during Tuesday's School Board meeting, accompanied by Mr. Brown and Mr. Deutsch. It was a proud moment for our school to showcase the exceptional learning experiences happening at Shepard Middle School.
Lastly, reminder there is NO SCHOOL Friday or Monday for our students.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Dr. Theresa Dunkin, Principal
Mrs. Marie Zlotnikov, Associate Principal
Mrs. Ginger Logemann, District Coordinator of Student Services
