Model UN
Congratulations to Hopkinton High School’s Model United Nations team! They hosted their second Model UN Conference, HOPMUN II, on March 15th. Delegations from seven schools participated in this day of diplomacy, debate, and civil discourse, including 120 participants. Our conference doubled in size our second year! From our keynote speaker, to our committee rooms, we focused on becoming global citizens who can make the world better for everyone, one negotiation and one solution at a time. The Secretariat worked together for a year to create this event with the help of the following chairs, vice chairs, and HOPMUN staff:
The Secretariat (and officers) of HOPMUN - Dhruv Shah, Piyusha Majgaonkar, and Kaesha Rajgor
Head of Staff - Anabelle Castoreno
Chairs - Poorvi Tikoo, Padmashree Malladi, Charlie Jackson, Sahasra Charkam, Ashwika Penmatsa
Vice-Chairs - Arshia Aggarwal, Arshia Tharakabhushanam, Tarvika Pratty, Akshaya Kolluri, and Mahathi Manikandan
Backroom Staff - Gabe Barreuther, Aashrithasai Vuppala, Kashvi Gupta, Aariana Subramanian-Dabade, Vaishnavi Kanakamedala
Along with the four committees we created for our guests from other schools in Massachusetts, we invited 25 eighth graders from HMS to join us in an introductory committee. They learned about Model UN and participated as delegates throughout the day as well. We were so impressed with their enthusiasm, respect, and preparation. Congratulations, HMS students!
HHS Model UN Club - You showed excellent team work in preparing for this conference and in representing the Hopkinton community with enthusiasm, professionalism, and drive. There may have been battles with lip syncing and lightsabers, but you also brought diplomacy, negotiation, and peace through your resolutions. We are so proud of your accomplishments!

Congressional Art Competitions
Each spring, the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a nation-wide, high school art competition: the Congressional Art Competition. Since its inception in 1982, this competition has provided a unique opportunity for high school students from across the U.S.—and the Second Congressional District—to showcase their artistic talents. With over 650,000 students having participated in the last 40 years, the Congressional Art Competition has continued to be a wonderful opportunity to recognize and encourage the talents of students from across the country.
The Congressional Art Competition, sponsored by my office, is open to all high school students attending a high school located in the Second Congressional District of Massachusetts. The winner of our District's competition will have their artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork of other district competition winners from around the country. The national reception will be held in Washington, D.C. on June 11, 2025 (more details to follow).
Art will be judged in the following categories:
• Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
• Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal (It is recommended that
charcoal and pastel drawings be fixed.)
• Collages: must be two dimensional
• Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
• Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
• Computer-generated art
• Photographs

Host families are compensated $1000-$1100 a month for opening up their homes.

Sox for Socks Drive
For people experiencing homelessness, the need for new, white socks is critical. Spending hours on their feet, with walking as their primary mode of transportation, and being exposed to extreme weather conditions, too often, the people served by BHCHP face painful infections and avoidable health complications when unable to access new, clean socks. Each day, BHCHP relies on donations of new, white socks to distribute to more than 10,000 patients. By participating in this sock drive, you will be providing patients with a basic essential to protect their health and giving them the gift of comfort and dignity.
- Donate New White Socks to donation bins at any school, just look for our donation box at the entrance.
- Donate by Venmo to @DianneJ10 with “Sox for Socks” in the message tab.
- We will be collecting until June 10th
- We will deliver all the New, White Socks to Fenway in August.
AP Test Proctor Volunteers
Parents - The high school is looking for community members who may be interested in helping with the proctoring of this year's Advanced Placement tests. There will be staff administering the tests but proctors are needed to circulate, help collect tests, etc.

A Unified Partner is a student-athlete without intellectual disabilities who wants to support the athletes learning the sport.
