Looking for Families to Host German Students
Guten Tag!
Eastview High School participates in a GAPP (German American Partnership Program) exchange. We have a partner school in Darmstadt, Germany (just south of Frankfurt in Western Germany) and every other year we travel to each other’s schools. The group from Germany will be visiting this upcoming Oktober from the 3rd to the 14th 2023 and we will be traveling to Germany right after school gets out in June 2024.
We are currently searching for host families and would like to find host families before the end of the school year. The German students do need their own bed, but can share a room if need be. We are hosting 20 German students and 2 of their teachers.
If you are interested, please fill out this application form and send it back to Herr Sebald at steve.sebald@district196.org. Please be as detailed as possible in your answers and welcome letter so that the teachers in Germany and I can do the best we can when matching you with your partner. Please submit this application by the 31st of May so that we can match you and you can get to know your partner over the summer. Please email Herr Sebald with your questions.

DAKOTA HAWKS CI SOFTBALL
It was a Great weekend for the Hawks. On Friday, the top seeded Hawks defeated South Washington by a score of 9-1 to advance to the winner’s bracket on Saturday at noon. Both games on Saturday went extra innings. In the first game versus New Prague, we took an early lead of 6-2 which held until the 5th inning as the New Prague put together 4 runs in the 5th inning to tie the game at 6-6. Game winner for the Hawks came in the bottom of the 8th inning with a clutch hit from Thomas Christopherson scoring Myle’s Johnson from second base. The win, advanced the Hawks into the championship game versus last year’s State Champions, the Lakeville Cats. In the championship game, the Hawks played from behind the entire game, finally tying the score in the bottom of the 6th inning 5-5 after being down 3-5. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Makai Smith helped to send Myle’s Johnson running with a two out double which resulted in Myle’s being thrown out on a close play at the plate after a great relay throw from Cat’s left fielder to the catcher. Both teams played excellent defensive ball until the 11th inning. In the 11th inning the Cat’s put together a couple clutch hits and two runs to recapture the lead in the top of the 11th. The Hawks were unable to score in the bottom of the 11th inning. The Hawks finished the season as the State Runner Up with a record of 10 win and 1 loss. Thank you to everyone for making this such an incredible season. All State Tournament Awards went out to senior Thomas Christopherson (Eastview), sophomore Colin Price (Rosemount) and junior Mark Manwarren (Rosemount).
