Dear SVDP Community,

Saint Vincent de Paulooza has been a lot of fun, and we will wrap up with our hot dog lunch tomorrow! Thanks to Student Leadership for planning all the events.

Virtue of the Week - RESPONSIBILITY: Let’s think about our responsibilities toward our neighbors - friends/teachers/parents. We are all responsible to help each other grow in holiness. God made us to live in community, and we are supposed to be a good example and an encouragement to each other. Do I build up my classmates? Do I help them make the right choices? Or do I tempt them away from what we both know is right?

Next Week - FORESIGHT: Foresight means consideration of the consequences of one’s actions. It means thinking ahead about what might happen.

We have been notified that the sinkhole repair will continue for eight more weeks, and the intersection of Green and Fillmore will remain closed intermittently. We know that using Steiner (from either north or south) creates a backup on Steiner, impacts the safety of the intersections, and causes frustration. There is really no other option, except patience. We are one community and need to respect that each of us has to wait and each of us has somewhere else to be.

We do ask that if you are picking up 3 - 8 graders to please wait and enter the line at 3:00 or later. K - 2 release at 2:50, and this staggered pick-up time is designed to minimize traffic. If you have students at both release times, utilize the sibling steps.

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.

Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place from Monday, October 2, to Thursday, October 5 in the school lobby.

Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.

We will also need volunteers to work as cashiers. There will be two shifts available every day.
