Sewell Winter Program & Academic Night (ELA & STEM), December 6th
Please join us for ELA and STEM related activities from 3:30-4:25 followed by our Winter Music Concert at 4:30 featuring band, orchestra and songs sung by all classes. For the concert, please bring chairs and blankets to enjoy our outdoor concert. Students may wear their favorite holiday outfits.
School Emergency Drills, Lockdown drill practice on Friday, Dec 8th
Practicing for an emergency is essential in supporting our staff and students, in knowing the protocols that need to be followed in case of an emergency. The more we practice the better prepared we will become if an emergency occurs. This year we have conducted a bus evacuation drill, and we have conducted monthly fire drills.
This Friday, December 8th, we will be conducting a Lockdown drill. School safety will be present to support us. Teachers will review the lockdown emergency protocols with students, so they know what to do in the event there is a lockdown.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sewell Giving Tree Program
Buy a gift for a Sewell student this holiday season! Look for The Sewell Giving Tree near the Ben’s Bells Kindness Mural. Gingerbread boys, girls and house ornaments have the gift item written on the back. Please let me know which ornament you have taken. Return your unwrapped gift and gingerbread ornament to Ms. Bonnie no later than December 18, 2023.
Thank you for your generosity!
Happy Holiday Season to All!
We have had an amazing first half of the year in the before and after school program. The students are so creative and having a blast! Many students don't want to leave when they are getting picked up. It makes Ms. Sherry and me so happy that our students enjoy our program.
If you are interested in our tuition based after school program, please email me, tamara.smith@tusd1.org
Have a wonderful safe rest of 2023!
Mrs. Smith,
Before and after school program, site leader
It’s that season! Respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses are on the rise.
Please keep your child home if sick. Here are some guidelines on making that decision:
Fever
A child with a temperature of 100° or over should be kept at home. Do not allow your child to return to school until he/she has been fever-free for over 24 hours without medication.
Stomachache, Vomiting, Diarrhea
If vomiting occurs, keep your child home until he/she can keep down his/her food. A child with diarrhea should be kept home until they are symptom free for 24 hours without medication.
Cold, Sore Throat, Cough
A child with a “mild” cold and a deep or barking cough belongs at home in bed, even if he/she doesn’t have a fever. If coughing will interrupt learning in the classroom, keep them home. If your child complains of a sore throat and white spots can be seen in the back of the throat or if fever is present, keep your child home and call your doctor.
Communicate with us! If your child is diagnosed with Covid-19, Influenza, or any other contagious illness, please let the health office know.
We have masks available if your child chooses to wear one to stop the spread of illness.
The health office also has Covid-19 home test kits available. Call or come by to pick up. You can also get a free Covid test.
Sewell Community News
We are collecting food items for our pantry, so we can provide emergency supplies to our Sewell families. Please bring non-perishable food items such as cereal, oatmeal, ramen, canned chicken/roast beef, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, marinara sauce. Please remember to check the expiration dates. We also need personal hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, bodywash, and deodorant), household cleaning (dish soap, disinfecting wipes and laundry detergent) and paper products (bath tissue/wipes and paper towels). We always need new socks and underwear. Thank you for your contributions. Your generosity helps many Sewell families.
Please contact me, Bonnie Mort, to make an appointment for regular or holiday assistance. I post on ClassDojo daily and these posts give guidance to outside resources that are available for Sewell families. Also, visit our Facebook page and our Instagram page to be informed of what is happening at Sewell!
