Davis Families,

As you know, CMSD is beginning its transition to hybrid learning. Many of you have received letters from the district mailed to your house with information about returning. Some of you may have questions you need answered before you can decide if you feel comfortable and safe returning for in-person learning. Please note the following:

1. Students are returning to the building in phases beginning March 8th. Only a few students will return on this date. Most students will stay home and continue with remote learning.
2. Please do not send your child to school for in-person learning if you have not heard from Davis A&M about your child’s return date. The school will contact families directly by phone, parent email, and student email to inform them of their child’s specific return date.
3. Davis will host parent Zoom meetings in early March to provide more information about returning in person including schedule details and safety protocols. Specific dates and times for these meetings will be communicated soon. Please complete this form to communicate questions and concerns so we can address them at the parent meeting.
4. All families will have the option of a “Hybrid” schedule that includes two days of in-person instruction and two days of remote instruction), or a “Fully Remote” schedule similar to the current remote schedule.
5. Families will have until March 19th to choose to stay fully remote for the remainder of the year. Parents will not be able to change their decision after their choice is finalized
6. When your student eventually returns, they will be expected to be in our standard dress code. (white, black, or blue collar shirt and khaki, black, or navy pants). We will be providing a free Davis collared shirt to all students.

Clubs like Boat Building, Aviation, and Fab Lab, and more have been continuing to meet in limited capacity at PHASTAR throughout this school year. As we look forward to returning to the school building, more opportunities will be available to get involved in these clubs. Reach out to Mr. Smith for more details at dsmith@davisam.org

Pictured here is one of our juniors, Micah, inspecting the quarter scale model of the Expedition Rowing Boat. Students in Boat Building Club will begin building this boat in full scale later this month.

ALL PARENTS & STUDENTS: College Now is continuing to host presentations throughout the month to support students in their post-secondary planning. See the attached flier for event dates, times, and topics for the month of March.

SENIOR PARENTS & STUDENTS: We are still working on increasing the number of FAFSAs submitted. Remember, the FAFSA is a REQUIREMENT to receive the Say Yes to Education Scholarship if students are eligible. These two steps could potentially result in up to $13,000 in FREE money for college. To support student success, we have extended online tutoring hours and tailored after-school teacher and community time to best fit the needs of each grade level. Click on the image below for more details and to access the links.

Each week, we email thoughts and suggest readings for the week; you can certainly read at your own pace though.

Parents of 9th -11th Graders are reading The Distance Learning Playbook for Parents, and will come together through Zoom on March 18th for a full book discussion. If you would like to follow the weekly pacing guide, click here.

Y.O.U - Youth Opportunities Unlimited has paid employment and training opportunities available for 18-24-year-olds. It is a very competitive program. Do not wait to apply. Registration is open through May 1st.
