Stroke Tip: Pull Buoy
Pull buoys have many uses that are beneficial. They are used to help swimmers work on balance, upper body and arm stroke. They eliminate kicking so it helps the swimmer to focus on their arms and on breathing. To use a pull buoy, place the buoy between your thighs. The buoy with the smaller side points to the bottom. Pull buoys allow swimmers to get a better sense of balance, the legs stay closer to the top of the water, make sure to point your toes with a buoy on. Pull buoys can be great for beginners because they let the swimmer work on the pull technique without getting so tired from the kick. Concentrate on fine tuning your arm stroke with the buoy and build good swim habits. Be careful not to use the buoy for more than 25 percent of your workout.
