WMS Weekly Warrior
January 29, 2024
Good Afternoon Woodbury Middle School Community,
It’s the last week of January already, and on Friday, the groundhog will let us know how long until spring. That being said, this time of year is traditionally difficult for some. The nurse's office has been quite busy due to a high number of illnesses as we look to get through the “Dog Days of Winter”. So hopefully Punxsutawney Phil will have some good news for us.
NWEA testing will begin tomorrow. It's essential to keep in mind that the primary purpose of NWEA is to measure the progress of the students. Therefore, it's not necessary for your child to answer every question correctly, but rather do their best. The teachers have already discussed the assessment with the students and emphasized the importance of giving their best shot. We request you support your child by encouraging them to take the test seriously and perform at their personal best. We also urge you to ensure that your child eats a nutritious breakfast, gets enough rest, and has a fully charged Chromebook for the day of testing. The schedule for NWEA testing is:
- ELA - January 30th and 31st
- Science- February 2nd
- Math- February 6th and 7th
WMS Alliance is looking for donations for their Superbowl pancake breakfast on Feb 11th. Students in the family classroom who collect the most donations will receive one free admission to the pancake breakfast.
The items in need of are:
- Large aluminum trays
- Aluminum foil
- Pancake Mix (complete, just add water)
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- Syrup
- Ground Coffee (Regular Only)
- Tea
- Sugar packets
- Orange Juice
- Cups (hot – 12 oz. or larger please)
- Plastic Utensils (forks, knives, spoons)
- Frozen brown and serve sausages
Tickets for the breakfast are $5 if purchased in advance and $7 at the door. Alliance members are selling tickets each morning in Family classrooms. We encourage everyone to purchase their tickets in advance.
The WMS winter student athletes made over 200 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to deliver to St. Vincent DePaul Homeless Shelter Thursday after school. Boys' basketball coach Max Pape organized the event. What a terrific opportunity for our student-athletes to engage in community service.
Have a great week,
