COMMUNITY DAY
May 6th is our annual Community Day Celebration at the Eatonville High School. EES will be dismissed at 11:30.
All students are sent home the usual way (except those performing during the celebration).
Our first graders are very excited to perform for the Mayday festivities. If you will be attending, you may want to get there early. The festivities start at 1:00.
Congratulations to this year's 2022 1st grade Prince and Princess Zachariah Lambert and Saylor Lindan. They were selected to represent EES in this year's May Day Court.
CELEBRATE EARTH DAY
Dear EES Grades 3-5 Families:
This spring your student in grades 3-8 and 10 will take the Smarter Balanced tests in math and English language arts. Students in grades 5 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career.
Most students will take the tests online. Our school is scheduled to take the tests May 16-June 2.
Click on this link for more information about the Smarter Balanced and WCAS tests, and this link to try out an online practice test Smarter Balanced practice test or WCAS training test.
You can call or email your child’s teacher or me if you have questions about state testing.
Thank you for continuing to work with us to make sure your student is successful. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to better support your student. We want your student to leave us with a solid foundation of skills and a future full of opportunities.
Sincerely,
Timothy J. Leipold

All About
HUMILITY
Humility is freedom from pride or arrogance. When I think of humility, I think of knowing that there is always room for improvement. No matter how good or accomplished someone is, there is always room for more growth.
PRACTICE IT!
Play a cooperative game with your child - one where you work together towards a goal, not against each other. For example, toss a ball or balloon back and forth and try to keep it off the ground as long as possible. Talk about how you had to help each other, and ask your child how it would go if one person tried to do it all.
READ ABOUT IT!
Books to help learn more about humility:
*Roxy the Ritzy Camel by Anthony DeStefano
*The Tower: A Story of Humility by Richard Paul Evans
*Full Moon Rising by Kristi and T. Lively Fluharty
TALK ABOUT IT!
Here are some discussion points to help you talk about humility with your child:
*What do you think humility means and why is it important?
*What can make it hard to be humble?
*Tell me about a time when you were humble. How did it go?
*Tell me about a time when you were not humble. How did it go?
*Have you ever been around other people who were not humble? Tell me about it. How did it make you feel?
*What is something you might do or say if you are being humble?
*What is something you wouldn’t do or say if you are being humble?
