A Message From The King Arts Administration
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Our parent/teacher conferences will take place on October 17th and October 18th, 2023. Please be aware that on Tuesday, October 17, middle school conferences will be in-person and 5 minutes long each. On Wednesday, October 18, all conferences will be virtual via Zoom. If neither of these options work for you or beyond what is available, please feel free to reach out to the teacher and make arrangements.
It's Dream Week!!!
October 9-15, 2023 is Dream Week 2023, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Fine Arts week-long fundraiser to promote and support the fine, performing, and literary arts. Students register and fundraise as part of teams - K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 - to earn community celebrations throughout the week culminating with the King Arts Fall Fest on Sunday, October 15. Any individual can give!
Each registered student is entered to win a raffle prize by raising $1 or more. That student is entered to win. Also, individuals and Grade Level Teams with the most number of unique donors will receive prizes. Every student gets to participate in team fundraising milestones!

Music and Steam Glo Party featuring glo-stick architecture and glo-slime making

Raffle prizes and team progress will be announced daily!
Donations are tax-deductible and fund important initiatives like:
Providing teacher mini-grants
Restocking our school library
Stocking the Book Nook
Providing scholarships for clubs and activities
Supplying athletic uniforms, and so much more!
Fall Fest
Be sure to join us for Fall Fest Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 12pm-3pm on the King Arts Playground. There will be games, music, food, crafts, and a whole lot of FUN!!!
Flu Shots
Evanston/Skokie School District is piloting their first influenza vaccine clinic at King Arts on November 10, 2023. Influenza vaccines will be offered at no cost to students, regardless of student insurance status. For more information, please click here.
Superintendent Advisory Committee
District 65 is looking for parents who want to participate in the District's Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee. Interested parents and caregivers can apply using the 2023-24 Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee Application link.
The purpose of the group is to develop meaningful relationships with families across the district while discussing district initiatives, school needs, and solutions to reach our district wide goals. One representative and one alternate will be selected from each school.
A total of four meetings will be held on October 12, December 6, February 8, and April 11 by zoom from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.

DANCE
With Ms. Wheatland, 7th graders have been exploring cultural dances from around the world. They not only learned the foundational steps of each dance, but also researched the origins and impact those dances have on the world. Here are some of our 7th graders performing Tinikling, a Filipino cultural dance.
DRAMA
In Drama with Ms. Querciagrossa, 6th graders created original masked characters and performed scenes wearing the masks and being the character.
Author Visit: Cozbi Cabrera
This comingTuesday, October 17th, students in grades K-2 will take part in an author visit with award winning author and illustrator, Cozbi Cabrera. Thank you to our PTA for purchasing books for classroom libraries. If you would like to purchase an autographed copy of your own, scan the flyer for details.
Community Author Event with Cozbi Cabrera at the Evanston Public Library
This past Thursday, D65 families were invited to attend an author event with Cozbi Cabrera at the Evanston Public Library. Ms. Cozbi shared her writing, her art, and led the audience in a flower making craft. It was a beautiful night of creating and sharing in our community.
6th Graders Tour Evanston Public Library
This past Friday, 6th graders walked to the Evanston Public Library for a full tour of the middle school resources now available to them including the beloved "Teen Loft".
