This Week's Events
Winter Wonderfun
Elementary and Middle School students are invited to join the Winter Wonderfun on December 5 in the auditorium from 12:30 - 2:00. We will have 6 stations of crafts, hot chocolate and snacks. It will be fun for all!
SD Legion Rugby visits MEA
The SD Legion Rugby team will be on campus next Wednesday, December 6 from 12:00-2:45. They will give instruction on how to play Flag Rugby during lunch and during both of our PE classes. All students are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Theater Auditions
MEA's Theater Company (MEATCo) will have another production this year, and we are looking for students interested in acting in it and being a part of stage crew. If you would like to audition or express your interest in doing stage crew work, please fill out the attached form.
Auditions will close on December 6th. We are looking forward to putting on another amazing show!
Rock Painting for Beautification
Come and join Ally Action and the Mental Health Club as we come together to paint rocks to continue the process of beautifying the Mount Everest Academy campus.

The School Site Council (SSC) and School Governance Team (SGT) will be meeting this Wednesday, Dec. 6th, at 2:00 pm, in Room 2.
High School Winter Semi-Formal December 7th
The dance will include some outdoor activities: chess, corn hole, connect four, etc. Thirty tickets must be sold, get your ticket TODAY!
Tickets are available to purchase, parents sign into your school cash account. All attendees will need a completed Permission Slip. MEA students can complete theirs online while purchasing ticket(s). Non-MEA guests must complete a hard-copy of the Permission Slip (also available in the office) to participate in the event, forms can be turned in at the office or at the event.

Announcements
Rocketry Club
Rocketry Club has made huge strides in the last couple of months. They raised over $700 for supplies through DonorsChoose and completed 2 launches of their rocket. They continue to analyze data they recorded from their launches to make further improvements.
Make an Impact
Pactful champions Malia Wilke, Miranda Martien, and Elizabeth Young recently graced the pages of San Diego Family magazine, showcasing their innovative solution to reduce smoke exposure in third-world countries grappling with inadequate ventilation. Dive into the magazine to discover their inspiring journey and visit their GoFundMe page to contribute to the momentum of their impactful project!
See's Candy Fundraiser
Thank you to all the students and families that participated in the See's Candy Fundraiser!
Orders will be delivered to MEA no later than December 8th so families can pick up prior to winter break. Please pick up your order in the office no later than Friday, December 15th. Elementary & Middle School
Tech Exploration
Sign ups are finally open for the Tech Exploration class! This course is meant for students in grades 3-6, who have a passion for all things tech. Tech Exploration is designed to provide students with engaging hands-on experience with various STEM related subjects. Some topics to be covered include: LEGO Robotics, 3D printing and design, electronics, coding and more.
The course will be held on Thursdays, Weeks 1 & 3, from 12:30-1:30, in the MakerSpace. Classes will start when we come back from Winter Break, in Month 5, with the first classing being on January 4th. Space is somewhat limited and students must be signed up to attend. Lunch supervision will be available to students that have elementary classes on Thursday mornings.

SDCOE & UCSD's Triton Gaming Mentorship Program
We are currently recruiting all San Diego County high school students for our SDCOE/UCSD Gaming Mentorship program. In this mentorship students will learn about:
- Careers in Esports
- Resume Building
- Healthy gaming habits
- Introduction to college gaming
- How to be successful in college or careers while enjoying gaming
The mentorship program will start in January 2024. Meetings will be held virtually every two weeks in the evenings. Here is the registration link for students to use to sign up. The deadline to register is December 22 at 5 p.m.

Academics
Testing Room
Mt. Everest Academy students have the opportunity to reschedule their tests, outside of scheduled class time, to be proctored by a staff member in B15. Students will require permission from their class teacher, before requesting to test in B-15. Requests should be made no later than 24 hours before your requested testing time.

UCSD Tutors
We are pleased to welcome two tutors from UCSD to our school again this year!
Sarah is a Computer Engineering major and a first-generation college student. Sarah will be on campus on Wednesdays:
12:30 - 2:30 PALS lab
2:30 - 3:00 HS AVID class
Martin is a Psychology major. He can help with English such as Essays, General College Prep, and Resume Building. Martin can be found in PALS lab on Wednesdays in room 6 from 12:30 - 2:30.

PALS
Join us for PALS , peer tutoring and schoolwork collaboration, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at MEA! PALS is available to all students in grades K-12. Elementary parents need to complete the PALS Check-in form and provide it to the PALS supervisor. This form lets our tutors know what assignment or skills you wish your student to work on while attending PALS.

Clubs & Extracurriculars
NEW: Gaming Club
If you're interested in playing card or board games, come join the Game Club! We will be playing games such as Uno, slapjack, speed, BS, and many more! We will meet in the auditorium at lunch time on week 1 and 3 on Wednesdays. We will be having our first meeting this Wednesday, Dec. 6th.
Wellness
Student Wellness Ambassadors Kalyani Bengs and Jason Webb have created Mindfulness videos for you to follow along and help to calm your mind.
Campus Highlight
Thank you everyone who came out to MEA's First Annual Mario Kart Tournament! It was a fun week of racing karts, discussing gaming, and getting together as a school community. Congratulations to Rashad for winning the first Mario Kart Cup!
