“Where faith soars, minds excel, and futures ignite”
Week of December 8th-14th
2023-2024 School Year - Issue #15
“Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit."
~Psalm 51:12
Hello St. Michael- St. Clement Students and Families,
I want to begin this week's message by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Miranda Stepp of WJZ and one of our current parents. It was an oversight that her name was not included in the thank you's for the Bazaar a few weeks ago. Miranda played a crucial role in bringing Marty Bass to our event and promoting the Bazaar on the WJZ 9am show. The Bazaar's success has been growing, and we owe a part of that to Miranda. Thank you, Miranda!
During the Christmas season, our school and church are bustling with activity, with both facilities being used almost continuously until the New Year. This has made scheduling certain things quite challenging this year. Additionally, we only have two full weeks of December School, as we are one of the few Catholic Schools closed on December 18th, 19th, and 20th. So, with three days taken out of our calendar and a short two-week window, we have faced difficulties and had to make some unfortunate decisions. I understand that many are not pleased with the Christmas Concert times, and I sincerely apologize for that. Due to the various functions taking place in the Church and the loss of three school days, it was simply impossible to find a time that would work for everyone involved and I will take all the blame for that. However, I am committed to working with Mrs. Dossa to explore the possibility of organizing an evening show in mid-January for all families, even though it will be after Christmas Day, we could possibly get it in still during the Christmas Season.
In the meantime, we will be live streaming the afternoon show on our Facebook page so that everyone can still enjoy it.
Next week is going to be filled with excitement, as we have Spirit Week, Christmas Parties, and a special surprise planned for both students and staff on Friday...
I hope that everyone has a fantastic and peaceful second week of Advent.
Yours in Christ,
Matt Zipp

Colder/Inclement Weather
The time of year has come where the temperatures are getting colder and inclement weather becomes a possibility. As a reminder, all students will go outside for recess unless the temperatures or wind chill are below freezing. Please make sure to send students into school with proper outerwear for outdoor recess.
Also, if inclement weather does occur, St. Michael - St. Clement School follows Baltimore County Public Schools when following school closures or delays. If a closure or delay occurs, we will also send out a notification via our school alert system. Please do not call the school office. Thank you!
Student Council News
For each day that you choose to dress down, please donate either a non-perishable item for the food bank, an unwrapped toy, or simply $1.00. All donations will be used to support the Happy Helpers for the Homeless. This was the organization that Ms. Margaret Brogden (former pastorate Religious Ed Director and Religion Teacher at STM-STC) supported. All donations will be made in her honor. Please help us help this amazing organization and join in all the fun!
The Giving Tree
Please help us decorate our Giving Tree with NEW scarves, hats, gloves, and mittens for both adults & children! The Student Council will be collecting these winter items from Friday, December 1st - Monday, December 11th. All donations will benefit the Franciscan Center.
Pokémon Club
Our next meeting on Thursday, December 14th, will be cancelled due to the overlap of the Christmas Play taking place in Extended Care. Many of our members are also participating in the play for parents that afternoon and we don't want them to miss it. We'll see everyone back after the Christmas Break! Have a wonderful holiday! May you catch many new Pokémon!!
Purple Friday's
Let's celebrate the 2023 Ravens season and embrace Purple Fridays! We invite the entire school community to join us every Friday, unless there's a game scheduled on a Monday or Thursday, in which case we'll have a special Purple Day. Kindly follow these guidelines to make the most of this exciting tradition:
- Students are permitted to wear a Ravens Jersey, T-Shirt, Hoodie, or Jacket in place of their school uniform polo/shirt.
- Students are permitted to wear a plain Purple T-Shirt or Hoodie in place of their school uniform polo/shirt.
- Being good sports, if you are not a fan of the Ravens, another teams Jersey, Hoodie, or T-Shirt will be permitted in place of their school uniform polo/shirt.
- Everything else is Friday uniform as usual.

Redemptorist preacher and reformer. Clement preached, built orphanages and schools, and established a vast Redemptorist presence in the city.
