ASB Leaders Create Carnival Memories for Lewis Students

Did you know that Lewis students are largely responsible for the success of Friday's Halloween Carnival at Lewis? From the interactive booths and the haunted trail to the cake walk and photo booth, Associated Student Body (ASB) student leaders planned and executed it all!

Bailey Cawelti, Katelyn Russo, and Zoe Wehrman were a few student leaders who contributed

greatly to the Halloween Carnival this year.

In advance of the big event, Events Commissioner Zoe could hardly contain her excitement.

"I am excited about having the first big event that our school is having in a couple years. It's an event for students to get to know each other and have fun together."

But an event at this large scale is a massive effort that takes collaboration and effort. Leopard Commissioner Bailey shares a bit of the work that went into this year's preparation.

"We've had to make all the posters, create games, count money and sell the tickets." Events Commissioner Katelyn added, "There are so many things going on at once!"

Student leaders give a lot of time and effort in advance of large events like this. But they also grow in their leadership skills too! Leading up to events like the carnival, students brainstorm ideas, locate and purchase materials, work within a budget, market and publicize, construct and build out stations, supervise and facilitate fun, and reflect on what works/ needs improvement for the future.. In the words of Bailey, "I have grown as a leader. Just getting it organized, I think I've grown as a planner too."

We are proud of Lewis students who are making our school an even better place to learn! Hosting the first large scale event post pandemic, they pulled off an incredible event for their classmates!

***If you would like your son or daughter to participate in ASB at Lewis next school year, email Mrs. Jennifer Smith (jdias@sandi.net) or communicate this desire to your child's counselor.

Thank you from Ms. Sue Nan, Library Tech

Dear Lewis Foundation, Parents and Staff,

I would like to send a HUGE thank you to the Lewis Foundation, Lewis Parents and the Lewis Staff for making the fall 2021 Scholastic Book Fair an awesome, incredible, fabulous, and successful book fair.

Thank you to the parents for sending money with your children so they were able to purchase items at the books fair. Another thank you to the Lewis Foundation parents who donated their time before, during and after the fair as well as spending over $400 worth of books for teachers and the library. A new color copier plus extra ink was also purchased for the library. One more thank you to the teachers who brought their classes

into the book fair during their class times. Without you all, the book fair would not be possible.

The next book fair will be March 21st- 27th so help will be needed again.

Again, a huge heart felt thank you.

Sue Nan
