Principal's Note
To the Families of our Students,
Starting 10/18/23, our school will be administering the Measurable Results Assessment (MRA), a survey and reporting system designed to provide insights into the progress of our school. In order to provide a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, the MRA includes three different surveys:
1) one completed by all school staff
2) one completed by students in grades 4 and above, and
3) one completed by the families of students in all grades.
We hope you will participate so we can use the feedback to make our school an even better place for students and families. If you have any questions about the surveys or wish to see a list of questions, please click on this link
FAMILY SURVEY WHAT:
Online survey completed by one member of each household.
● Survey typically takes about 5 minutes to complete ●
Questions relate to the experiences you and your child have at our school.
● Answers are anonymous--to encourage people to be honest and open, no names and other identifying information will be collected.
WHEN: The survey is now available for you to take through 11/5/23.
HOW:
The survey can be taken from any computer, smartphone, or tablet with internet access,

STUDENT SURVEY
This survey will be completed by students in grades four and above on a computer at school. ● Survey typically takes 15-20 minutes to complete
● Students privately answer questions about their attitudes and behaviors--and can skip questions and stop anytime they choose.
● Students who do not wish to participate in the survey or whose parents choose to deny permission for their participation will be provided with an appropriate alternative activity (e.g. quiet reading) while the surveys are being administered. If you have a child in grades four and above and DO NOT want them to participate in the MRA Student Survey, please communicate with your classroom teacher by 10/20/2023. Please know that your decision to deny permission will not impact your child’s grades or your relationship with any member of our school
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your student's classroom teacher.

A message from our Social Worker, Kelsey Eyers
Hello to all the families!
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for partnering with me for the past 6 years to work collaboratively to ensure that all of our students are able to have their needs met. I have enjoyed working with each and every child.
As of November 6, I will no longer be working at Meadow View, as I am stepping back to take some time to focus on myself and my family. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to work with the amazing staff and families of Meadow View. I will begin sharing with students on Monday, October 23 of my upcoming departure.
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns to: kjeyers@sunprairieschools.org
Thanks!

October is Bullying Prevention Month
By Mrs. Leon
How Your Child Can Learn to Advocate for Others
Over the past few weeks, during WIN time, the Meadow View Otters have been focusing their learning on preventing bullying. If your child is aware of someone experiencing bullying or unfair treatment from their peers and is unsure how to intervene, it's important to teach them the steps they can take to support their peer. Often, the reason they confided in you is because they feel uneasy about the situation.
By educating your child about the wrongfulness of bullying and encouraging them to stand up for those who may not be able to or are hesitant to do so for themselves, you will help instill a sense of self-worth and independence in them. These admirable qualities will benefit them in various aspects of their life. Many instances of bullying can be curbed when someone stands up against them. It's crucial for your child to understand that responding with the same bullying behaviors is never acceptable.
REMEMBER:
- Teach them to use the power of words, not physical aggression, even if another child initiates a physical altercation.
- If they feel physically threatened or are enduring physical abuse, advise them to remove themselves from the situation, walk away, and seek a trusted adult for assistance.
- Encourage them to consider how they would feel if no one defended them in a similar situation.
What is the Difference Between Conflict, Rude, Mean, and Bullying?
At Meadow View, we want to ensure that every student feels loved, safe, celebrated, and has access to a high-level education every day. To achieve this, it's important to distinguish between various interpersonal situations that may arise at school: conflict, rudeness, meanness, and bullying.
Please refer to the attached graph to understand the differences between these terms. We believe that by understanding these distinctions, we can better support our students and maintain a positive school environment
