It's Maverick Hangout this week! Be sure to mark your calendars, this Wednesday from 12:30-1pm at the K-8 campus. We've got a cool fall art project along with a tasty treat and fun times with peers. The Maverick Hangouts are always well attended and a great opportunity for our students to hangout with friends. Be sure to check your inboxes this Saturday morning. Our Tustin Connect High School program is being featured as they are spotlighting our Advisory period.
This week's background features our 7th grade students working on their presentations, some eggs from one of our student's chickens, sample of our spirit wear along with the flyer for Parent University at Tustin High regarding the college and financial aid process.

Principal's Message...
It's Maverick Hangout on Wednesday along with Parent University on Thursday for our parents looking to learn more about navigating the college application and financial aide process. Also, a big thank you to all that went to Chipotle this past Wednesday. Check out the PTA section to see how much we earned from the event. Thank you!
Also, be on the lookout for the district email Saturday morning as Tustin Connect High School is being highlighted for the amazing check-in/advisory program we do with our high school students.
Lastly, make sure you have your calendar marked for Thursday, October 26th from 5-7 pm for our annual Trunk or Treat event. Costume contests, games, craft, trunk or treating, Kona Ice, nachos, hot dogs, and so much more! Come join us.

Hot Lunch for All K-8: All K-8 students have the opportunity when they are on capus to receive a free hot lunch from the Estock campus kitchen. If you are interested in finding out what is for lunch on the day(s) they attend, please use this link and choose Estock as the school to get started.
Math Lab: If you student has not done so already, be sure to inquire about additional math support on Wednesdays from 12:30 - 1pm. Mrs. Fancy, our Intervention Lead Teacher, will be hosting and providing students with additional support.
Social Skills Group: We are offering two social skills group times that began this week (6th grade is Mondays from 11:30-12, 4th/5th is Wednesdays from 12:30-1). Our counselor, Mrs. Wijnhamer, will be hosting weekly group meetings with students. The goal of this group is to create a space for students to build connections with peers while strengthening social skills that will aid them in their friendships and interactions with classmates. If you are interested in having your child join, please let Mrs. McCourtney know as a consent form is required.

Snack Battle in the Middle School: We have noticed our middle schoolers love their snacks. We've been having the battle of the snacks with some awesome treats. If students want to bring in their favorite snacks to share with their peers or even eat themselves, they are welcome to do so. It's been fun to see all of their favorites!

Math Support: Math Lab continues to run every Wednesday with great attendance. The time is designed to be a way for students to drop in from 10-12 each Wednesday throughout the school year in Room P29 with Mrs. Fancy. Students will have a chance to work on skills that they may be struggling with in addition to getting extra help in math. This is an additional resource we added this year to meet the needs of our high school students. If haven't attended to date, there's still time to join! It's an incredible resource for our high school students.
Tustin Connect Baking Club:Join the Tustin Connect Baking Club! This club was started by Julia Kelley and Mitchell Hilde to give back to our community. They plan to hold events twice a month and donate baked goods to local businesses, charities, or frontline workers. So far they have baked for the Tustin Police Department, Saddleback Animal Hospital, Tustin Santa Ana Vet Hospital, and our teachers! All high school students are welcome to join! College Application Workshops: On September 29th, Mr. David and Mrs. Wijnhamer will be hosting the final College Application Workshop from 8-12 in Room P31. This will be dedicated time with Mr. David and Mrs. W to help with your applications! See the flyer for more information.

Counselor Corner: Resources and link to workshops and more!!!
Our small groups at the K-8 and high school sites have begun. We are so excited to be able to meet with students in a group setting. See below for more information on the small groups and how to join.
In case you missed our first Principal/Counselor Coffee this past Wednesday, September 6th, we had a great turnout with families representing all 3 levels of students. The focus was Growth Mindset and Grit. Please check out the link to the slide deck to learn more and we hope you'll be able to attend next month, October 4th at 9:00 am. If you haven't done so already, we ask that you take a moment to complete the Parent Needs Assessment. This quick survey will drive our topics throughout the school year.

IVC Virtual Informational Session- For those interested in attending Irvine Valley College, there will be a Virtual informational session on October 4th 12:00PM-1:00PM. See linked flyer for more information.
Attention Freshmen Students and Families: Our counselor and Mental Health Professional will be hosting a 5 week “Strengthening Executive Functioning” Small Group from 8:30AM-9:00AM on Tuesday at Tustin Connect High School Campus. The first meeting date will be September 12th and the last meeting date will be October 10th.
- The goal of this group is to create a space for students to build connections with peers while learning/practicing executive functioning skills that will support them in day-to-day responsibilities both in school and outside of school. The following topics will be taught in group with accompanying skills.

- Communication
- Building a Community of Support

Free Online Tutoring Available for K-12 Students
Brainfuse HelpNow is an on demand, anytime, anywhere eLearning platform available for all ages and levels. Last week, it was announced that every Californian can now access free online tutoring available 24/7 through a new initiative offering homework help in every K-12 subject and skill-building resources for K-12 and adult learners.
Real-time homework assistance can now be accessed 24/7 here and on the websites of any of the 1,130 local public libraries around the state – click on the “HelpNow” link to reach a one-on-one tutor. The pilot program led by the State Library offers assistance in Math, Language Arts, and other core K-12 subjects in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog. There’s no age limit to who can use the service. Adult learners can also access writing assistance, citizenship resources and other tools.

TUSD Resource Sora Summer Read
Sora Sweet Reads in an annual summer reading program designed for schools to encourage students to keep reading all year long. "Check out" the free collection of simultaneous use juvenile and young adult ebooks (and select audiobooks).
Login to Sora to access these and many any other great ebooks and audiobooks all summer long through Clever, TUSD Student Portal or soraapp.com using your TUSD Google login and password.
