Brrr...It's Getting Cold Outside
Lunch Boxes
Remind your child to pick up their lunchbox at the end of each school day. Several lunch bags and lunch boxes have been getting left behind at the end of the school day, so we are beginning to see a lot of additional items starting to gather around our school.
Lost & Found
Please feel free to check the lost & found clothing rack and totes located in our school gym for any missing clothing or winter clothing items. With the weather getting colder, we want to make sure your child has everything they need to safely play outside at recess time and that they go home with all the items that they came to school with. Thank you for your assistance.
Parking
Dorothy Moses has over 365 students right now, with multiple means of transportation being used to get them to/from school. Around 110 students ride the bus, over 20 are picked up by their daycare providers & another 75 are involved in the CREA after-school program. This leaves a little under 200 students that either walk home or get picked up, on a daily basis.…that is a lot of kids trying to find their rides all at once! With that information in mind, what a great time for some reminders about the importance of safety when dropping off and picking up your child from school.
- Arrive at school a few minutes before the 3:05 pm dismissal time, with a designated and consistent place to pick up your child.
- Please ensure students are picked up by 3:15 as there is no supervision for students after school.
- Be your child’s best example. Please be courteous and follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Students, parents and staff are asked to use the crosswalks.
- Please DO NOT Double Park or stop in the middle of the street to allow your children to get in or out of the vehicle. Do not block or park in handicap zones.
- Remind your child to look both ways when crossing the street.
- Drive slowly and be a cautious driver around school.
- Inform the school office of changes at the end of the day regarding pick-up.
If we all work together and follow these simple tips, we can ensure that Dorothy Moses is a safe place to learn and work. Thank you for making this a priority!
