MOLIN NEWS
Pasta Party Tomorrow!
Dear Molin Community,
October is bullying awareness month when we teach our Bullying Prevention unit to all fourth and fifth graders. There are 4 bullying prevention lessons assigned to students. Additionally, our counselors have created a Bullying Prevention Virtual Classroom with resources for teachers and students.
We all know someone with Dyslexia - a colleague, student, friend, family member, partner, or child. For our students who think differently, awareness can make a huge difference to their emotional well-being and self-esteem. The Molin School Adjustment Counselors, Maggie Flaherty and Siobhan Green shared a virtual classroom created by The Literacy Nest for staff to use at a morning meeting with students or post to their Google Classrooms for students to access. There are 2 age-appropriate videos about Dyslexia and a library with short and long read aloud videos. Thank you, Mr. Falker and Your Fantastic Elastic Brain are both great to read aloud.
Molin Open Positions
Molin School is still in need of two instructional assistants. The staffing shortage in education is continuing to impact school districts all over the state. We are far luckier than most to have the ratio of adults to students that we do! However, if you know of anyone interested, the positions are posted on the “SchoolSpring” website. Thank you!

Week of 10/3 PTO Updates
Nunan’s Winter Greens Sale Reminder
Just 5 more days to place your order! If you usually buy a wreath for the holidays, this is an easy way to check that task off your list and help raise money for our schools. We are selling poinsettias, kissing balls, handmade bows and more! A portion of each sale will go directly to the Newburyport PTO to support student activities. All of our greens and poinsettias come from Nunan's florist. Orders are due by October 10th and can be placed right here!
Molin Pasta Night & Clipper Pride Rally Reminder
We are getting super close to this fun event which will be held at the Molin on Friday, October 7th from 5PM-6PM before the High School football game against Pentucket Regional. We are looking for volunteers to provide food and supplies, as well as to set up/clean up and chaperone the event. To volunteer in any capacity, please check out our Sign Up Genius here and select your slot. Take a look at our very informative flier available here for more information about the event.
PTO Teacher “In Search Of” Lists are Here!
We received a lot of great feedback about our staff supply wishlists last spring so we've decided to make it a year-round initiative to help get our teachers what they need to teach our children. How many times have you donated or recycled an item that you just knew a teacher could use? Now you can check this list and donate gently-used or new items that our teachers actually need. Just put your initials next to the item and drop it off at the appropriate main office. We know how wonderfully generous this school community is and we thank you for supporting this initiative!
Spiritwear Purchase Update
Thank you all again for your support of the PTO-sponsored spirit wear sale. We are in the process of assembling orders and will be in touch via email and through our Facebook group regarding the pick up or delivery options. We really appreciate your patience with this process! Please email us at newburyportpto@gmail.com if you have any questions.
2022-23 PTO Events and Call for Volunteers
The PTO 2022-23 events and initiatives are set for the year and we need volunteers! The goal for this year is to raise $95,000 to fulfill our commitment to funding some amazing programs for students and families. There are many easy ways to volunteer this year, and we greatly appreciate your involvement, big or small. Any amount of time you can give us will be tremendous. This Google Form has a list of all PTO events for the year, so please take a look and indicate your volunteer interests.
PTO Newsletter Coming Soon
In the next month or so, the PTO will start publishing a newsletter containing great information about PTO-sponsored events. It will be sent to the families via email at the end of each month and will list all upcoming events so that you can plan appropriately. This is a great way to stay informed of all of the activities that the PTO is sponsoring within and outside of the schools. If you are unable to indicate your volunteer interest at this time, but would still like to receive our newsletter, please use the PTO events form (also referenced above) and just include your name and email address.
