Latest and Greatest News for Churchill Families
The Churchill Playbook
In the remaining days of the school year our team has planned special activities to recognize and celebrate the beautiful connections we have been able to make and everyone's hard work toward our learning goals.
If you are a returning or new family that would like the opportunity over the summer to reconnect with the building and take a tour. Please see this Sign-Up Genius link.
Stay Tuned: Our June Bulletin will highlight some important information regarding grading and enrichment programming. We look forward to having some dialogue with families about these two topics in the months ahead.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to Churchill should you have any questions or concerns as we close out this exceptional school year. We wish you all a safe and happy summer.
Device and Materials Drop-Off
Please carefully review our end of year device/materials drop-off information.
In-Person Students: On Wednesday, June 2nd, all in-person students will leave their device at school. Please make sure that your child has the case, original charger and cord that was issued with the device.
The device will be inspected for any damages (cracked screen, water damage, audio jacks, etc.) The charges vary depending on if this is a first-time incident. If there are any damages, we will initiate the insurance claim and send you an email along with a photo of the device. If any device is not turned in, there will be a charge (cost of the device) assessed to the student’s account. If you notice that your device has any damages, please contact the Tech Department so an insurance claim can be processed. Information will then be sent to you on how to process the claim with payment.
*All in-person students will be sent home with work/assignments to complete on their own for the final day of school.
Remote Students: On Thursday, June 3rd and Friday, June 4th, you will be bringing your child’s device, original cord, and brick to the school. There will be a step-by-step process in returning the device. Please make sure that the device is charged and cleaned. Your device will be inspected for any damages (cracked screen, water damage, audio jacks, etc.). There will be a charge (cost of the device) assessed to the student’s account for any device and equipment that is not returned.
If the dates/times don’t work for you, please make arrangements, by email, with Nicko Sims (Nicko.sims@hsd153.org) before June 3rd. Please note that if any appointment isn’t made and the device isn’t turned in on the set dates, your student’s account will be charged for the cost of the device, cord, and brick.

Churchill Garden
DLS students joined Mrs. Gallagher, Ms. Maxwell and Mrs. Furgason in the Churchill Garden for a virtual lesson to end their Unit on The Life Cycle of Plants.
Students were able to view various plants being planted by staff such as marigolds, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. They participated by identifying different parts of the plants with teachers. Plus, they identified whether the plant was a fruit, vegetable, or flower. A Follow up activity include students (optional) signing up next week and attending an individual lesson to plant further seeds such as pumpkins and sunflowers and to help tend to the garden.
