I hope everyone had a great weekend, and students, you are enjoying a 4-day weekend!! We will see you back at school on Wednesday, Oct. 18th.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Cantina Louie last Thursday for GMES Spirit Night!!! We appreciate your support!

Highlights from last week include: A Kindergarten field trip to North River Farms and the Mills River Ingles, First Graders enjoying learning about bats on Friday for 'Bat Day', and outstanding performances from the Flat Rock Playhouse on Letterland Alive! an Greetings from NC!, and kudos to our 3rd- 5th graders for working hard on their Q1 NC Check-Ins.

This week is National School Bus Safety Week, and I want to take this opportunity to thank the BEST bus drivers in all the land -- Ms. Sandy (Bus 44), Mr. Phil (Bus 45), Ms. Marian (Bus 46, and Mr. Greg and Ms. Margaret (Bus 233) -- for transporting our most precious cargo (our students / your children!!) each and every day. We love you guys! Thank you!!

First Quarter report cards will be made available via the PowerSchool Parent Portal on Thursday, October 19th. An email will be sent out from PowerSchool / HCPS with a link to access your child's Q1 report card.

If you do not yet have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you can access one by contacting our Data Manager, Jo Pittman, here at school. You can also send her an email at jnpittman@hcpsnc.org.

If needed, you can request a paper copy of your child's report card. Please just contact your child's teacher.

The Q1 Honor Roll Recognition Ceremony for 3rd- 5th grade students will take place in the Marlow Gym on Friday, Nov. 3rd, at 8:30am.

November is National Veterans Month, and we want to celebrate and honor our Marlow Family Veterans during this time. Thank you for your service and dedication to our country!

Marlow's Annual Fall Festival, "Pumpkin Lighting' is just one week away!!

Parents - you should have received information regarding our Raffle Baskets this past Friday, and Pre-sales for raffle tickets and food are now on live through SchoolCashOnline. A reminder for everyone to place their school cash online food orders by this Thursday at 8 PM!!

This year, scheduled for Thursday, October 26th, from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Food, games, inflatables, raffle baskets, pumpkin displays, a hay ride, and S'mores awaits the Marlow Community to come out and enjoy!

With these chilly mornings and warm afternoons, our Lost and Found is growing exponentially!!

We ask students frequently to please make sure that they are keeping track of their jackets, sweat shirts, hats, water bottles, and everything in between during the course of the day.

Parents - Best practice is to be sure that your child's name is written somewhere inside the clothing.

Parents are free to come anytime to look through our Lost and Found, located by the Gym entrance. Thanks so much for your help.

Now that school lunches are free to all students, we have seen a tremendous increase in the number of school lunches consumed by students. This is outstanding, and we are so grateful that Henderson County Public Schools took on this initiative.

We also enjoy having our parents, grandparents, and younger siblings come and join us for lunch. Whether it be a special occasion or just a time to come and enjoy lunch with your child, please remember that we do not allow parents to bring in outside food from local or chain restaurants into the cafeteria to give their child. Instead, we encourage you to buy lunch at school with your child and enjoy it with them.

In advance, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

**AM CAR RIDERS ** - Our doors open at 7:30. Parents and students - Please do not get out of the car until you see the front doors open, and a Marlow Staff member is present. This is a safety issue, and we appreciate your adherence to this protocol.

**TRANSPORTATION CHANGES** - Parents - Please be sure that you are notifying your child's HR teacher if there are any PM transportation changes. If a change must happen during the school day, we ask that you call the office (before 2pm if possible) to ensure that we get the message to both the teacher and student.

Do not use the Class DoJo app (or any other Social Media app) to make a transportation changes for your child. Please call the office, and we will see students get to the proper method home.

**FOR BOTH THE AM / PM (..on Butler Bridge Road)** - We would like to ask our Marlow families please be "good neighbors" to Aletheia Academy Childcare next door and leave their entrance "unblocked" during drop-off and pick-up. This will allow their families, staff, and any emergency vehicles, if ever needed, access in and out of their center. They will appreciate this kind and thoughtful courtesy very much. Thank you!

**FOR PM CAR RIDERS** - Parents - Please be sure you have the neon green car rider signs displayed in your windshield when picking up students...(You are doing a great job of this!)

Also, please stay in your car, or next to your car, when students are dismissed to walk. We promise, we will get them to the right car, and if we have parents wondering the parking lot and sidewalk, it can create a safety issue. Thank you for your help with this.
