February is here and is promising to be a full month! We have many events happening both in and out of the classroom. We look forward to our Spring Book Fair, Valentine Exchange, and "Kids Invite Someone Special" breakfast! Check out the rest of the newsletter for information on these events and more!

APTT Meeting 2

APTT (Academic Parent Teacher Team) information was sent home on Tuesday, January 30th. We hope you find this information valuable. Please get in touch with your child's teacher if you would like more information, would like to schedule a conference, or have any questions.

Valentine Card Exchange

Students will participate in a class Valentine exchange on Wednesday, February 14th. This event is not considered a party day. Thank you to our Parkway PTO for providing a healthy snack for the students to enjoy. If you need assistance purchasing Valentine's cards for your child to distribute, don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Krug at ekrug@magnoliaisd.org.

Kids Invite Someone Special Breakfast

Kids Invite Someone Special (KISS) breakfast is February 7th through 9th. Students are encouraged to invite someone special to enjoy pastries and coffee with them in the cafeteria from 7:45-8:15. We will have special tables set up and photo opportunities for all to enjoy! Visitors must be on the student's contact form (in Frontline) and receive a sticker at the front office before heading to the cafeteria. I will send out the RSVP form in a separate email.

Counselor's Corner

This month, we will focus on responsibility in our social-emotional lessons. Responsibility is taking action and understanding the impact of our choices. A big part of responsibility is how we interact with others, and we will practice this through some basic skills such as engagement, focusing, and following directions. We'll even learn the importance of being flexible and organized. To connect with your child on this topic at home, you might try choosing a household chore that requires multiple steps and have each family member choose a step. Maybe it's washing the dishes, doing the laundry, cleaning up the living room, or bringing in the groceries. Enjoy!

Attendance Information

Our attendance goal for this year is 96.5%. Our attendance rate for January was 95.3%. The MPES Absence Tank in the picture shows how many absences we have left in order to reach our 96.5% goal. As you can see, we are already over budget. We need your help in getting our kids to school and setting them up for success. Good attendance and work habits start now! When your child needs to be out, please remember to send in a note. You can have your child bring it to the office or email our registrar at ldroemer@magnoliaisd.org.

Congratulations to 4th grade for having the highest attendance rate for January! These classes will get to celebrate with an attenDANCE in their classrooms.
