Thank you for being our partner in your child's education! Parent- Teacher conferences allow time for both you and the teacher to talk about the growth that's been made and to plan a course for the rest of the year. Be sure to take a moment to reflect on how far your child has come! You'll be amazed at all that has been learned since August...by all of us.

Keeping your child ready to learn will continue to be important. Setting out the materials the night before helps him/her locate them easily. Ideally, this is a location with few distractions like the TV. Your little wildcat needs between 9-11 hours of sleep and breakfast to maximize his/her learning. Nobody wants to be on Zoom and hear rumbling stomachs!

We want to support you. We have a Social Worker, Psychologist, and a Counselor on staff. We know the holidays can be trying even the best of years, so please reach out if you need us. 2021 is creeping up....finally... so if you need a little help until you can kick 2020 to the curb, let us know.

This week’s grant book highlight is Mommy’s Khimar written by Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow and illustrated by Ebony Glenn. This is an endearing mother/daughter story about a young girl who plays with her mother’s scarves which are called a khimar as well as a hijab. Each scarf she tries on sparks her imagination and creative spirit taking her on adventures and surrounding her with her mother’s love. This book is available for checkout at the Homewood Public Library.

Homewood PTA is excited to announce that Bookie’s of Homewood has agreed to be the sponsor for District 153’s first annual virtual Read-a-thon benefiting the Homewood PTA. Read-a-thon is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills. The Read-a-thon event will take place in your home starting December 21st and it will run over the course of Winter Break. More information here.
