On Saturday, October 14th, HHS Class of '73 toured the building as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

Meredith Daly - Scholar Artist Merit Winner
Herricks High School senior Meredith Daly was recently recognized by the Long Island Arts
Alliance as one of 20 recipients of the Scholar-Artist Merit Award. She has also been selected to
perform with the NYSSMA All-State 2023 Symphony Orchestra. Meredith currently studies
flute with Judith Mendenhall, and she is a member of the Herricks High School Honors Wind
Ensemble.
Meredith is an active member of the Herricks High School Tri-M Music Honor Society where
she is currently Co-Vice President. In addition to her passion for music she is also a member of
Herricks High School Peer Partners Program and Justice League.
HHS Opera Visits the MET
On Friday, October 6th, members of the High School Music Department went on a field trip to the Metropolitan Opera House to see a final dress rehearsal performance of the famous opera, La Boheme, by Giacomo Puccini. For many, it was their first time ever experiencing this grand NYC landmark, as well as a live opera. All of the students came away moved by the gorgeous music, with a newfound appreciation for the art form. High School Orchestra Director, Catherine Birke, stated: "this is one of my favorite trips to do each year, because it's a joy to watch the students become totally invested in something I love so much. I'm lucky to share these incredible musical and cultural experiences with them."
Boys Badminton - CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to the Herricks Varsity Boys Badminton team, who defeated Great Neck North on Monday to become Conference Champions for the second year in a row!
Jake Moon & Gabe Oh Take Big Swings!
Senior, Jake Moon ranked 20th in Nassau County!
Jake also received All County Honorable Mention.
Junior, Gabe Oh ranked 12th in Nassau County!

Angel Walia is Soaring!
Sunday, October 15th was an exciting day for our very own Angel Walia, Herricks’ Girls Varsity Tennis Team # 1 singles player and Top 25 on Long Island as stated in Newsday. Angel entered the Nassau County tournament, as the #3 seed and beat Hewlett’s #6 seed in straight sets. Angel will continue to compete in the semifinals at Eisenhower Park next Saturday, October 21st.

Ethan Tran named Newsday Gridiron Great
Ethan Tran was named a Newsday Gridiron Great for his performance during the Homecoming game vs. Roslyn HS. Ethan had 227 Yards on the Ground and 73 Yards in the air which totaled for 300 Yards and 5 touchdowns (4 rushing and 1 passing). Ethan has also set the HHS record for total yards in a game.

Christopher Bates Visits Virtual Enterprise
Christopher Bates, current Assistant Dean of the LIU School of Management, former Managing Director of Goldman Sachs and NYSE Member, visited our Virtual Enterprise classes on Thursday, October 19th to discuss our company ideas and provide feedback on each company's elevator pitch which will be filmed in the TV studio next week and later be submitted for consideration in the VE National Elevator Pitch Competition.
Hofstra University Suburban Diversity Essay Contest 2023
