A message from the principal
February is here, and that means it is national 'I Love to Read' month! We are celebrating here at CBPA with our annual Read-a-Fun challenge. You should have received information about how to participate from your child's teacher. If we meet our school-wide goal of 250,000 minutes, Assistant Principal Moses and I will be dressing up as book characters selected by the classroom of students with the highest minutes total. Yikes! We can't wait to see what the students choose, and how many minutes we can exceed our goal by. Happy reading, CBPA Huskies!
February also brings our winter conferences. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher. We enjoy meeting with families to showcase your child's 'glows' and 'grows' so far this school year. If you have not yet signed up for winter conferences, please visit www.myconferencetime.com/cbpa to schedule a time with your child's teacher.
I hope you all are enjoying the unseasonably warm weather, and getting some time outside! Personally, I have soaked in few beautiful sunsets during outdoor runs this week. It is very odd not to have to worry about slipping on ice or snow during the January and February months. Having lived in the Midwest my entire life, and never experiencing a winter like this, I keep thinking the cold and snow will inevitably find its way back to us. I know my own kids are hoping for a bit of snow for sledding and snowmobiling. Please continue to be mindful of the weather as you send your students to school each day. It is important they are prepared for recess in whatever Minnesota weather comes our way. We want to be sure all of our students are able to have a safe and enjoyable recess.
Thank you for partnering with us in support of our students and school community.
CBPA earns Magnet School of Distinction national recognition
I am extremely proud to share that Champlin-Brooklyn Park Academy is one of five district magnet schools that have earned a national recognition in 2024 for academic excellence, commitment to diversity, community engagement and parent involvement. One of the things I learned very quickly upon joining the CBPA school community last year is that the staff and families here take an immense amount of pride in our specialty. Our teachers work incredibly hard to integrate math and environmental science into lessons and experiences that are meaningful to our students, and we are so thankful to have been recognized by the Magnet Schools of America. Thank you to our Curriculum Integrator, Casey Wiedenman, for leading this important work. Read more about MSA here.
