Vogel Cell Phone/Smartwatch Policy
- Students are allowed to have cell phones at school, however, phones must be turned off and in the student’s backpack while at all times.
- Smartwatches follow the same policy. Students may wear the smartwatches, however, the texting/talk feature must be disabled during the day.
- Students bring their cell phones/smartwatches to school at their own risk.
- Making phone calls, text messaging, social media and using phones to take pictures/videos during school is strictly prohibited.
- If a student is in violation of the cell phone/smartwatch policy, the first offense will result in a warning.
- Each offense after will result in the cell phone/smartwatch being taken up and brought to the front office.
- An adult will need to come to school to pick up the phone.
Thank you for helping support a positive educational environment in our school.
Change of Transportation
All transportation changes must be received in writing by 3:00 p.m. We are unable to accept a phone call. You may send a written note to your child’s teacher, or fill out a form in the front office. Please include the date, your child’s full name, homebase teacher’s name, bus number (if applicable), and your signature. If an emergency arises, you may send an email to our campus secretaries, Tina Rodriguez (terodriguez@conroeisd.net) and Sondra Ricardson (smrichardson@conroeisd.net) . The e-mail must include all of the above information, including a parent signature, and must be received before 3:00 p.m.
Please send a new note for each day the change occurs; we cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

Forgotten Items/Deliveries
Please help your student be fully prepared for their day by ensuring that they have all needed materials (backpack, lunch, water bottle, etc...) as they arrive at school. Water bottles and lunches may be placed on the Drop-off table at the front office. All deliveries need to be labeled with your child’s name and homebase teacher to ensure proper delivery. Let the front office know you have dropped something off to your child. You may email your child’s teacher to let them know to allow your child to check the drop-off desk as well.
If you need eye glasses delivered to your child, please do not put them on the drop off table. Bring them to the office/staff for immediate delivery to your child.
Any class work, binders or homework that is dropped off will be placed in the teacher’s mailbox for them to pick up during the day.
Delivery of flowers, balloons, etc...to students at school are not permitted.
Dress Code Reminders
Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length or longer
-Pants may not have large rips/holes above fingertip length unless they are patched
-No spaghetti strap shirts, halter tops, or mid drift shirts are permitted
-Proper shoes must be worn at all times. No Crocs, flip flops, slippers, slides, or shoes with rollers. Tennis shoes are advised especially for daily physical education classes.
Attendance
- It is vital our students are at school every day.
- The 5th and 6th grade curriculum is hefty. Students can’t learn the necessary concepts if they aren’t present at school each day.
- Please help us by encouraging your child to come each day.
Birthday Treats
- Birthday treats, such as brownies or cookies, must be store bought due to allergy, safety and sanitation concerns.
- Treats are served in the classroom at the end of the day, and will be passed out by a staff member.
Parent Access
The most frequently asked question we get at the beginning of the year is how can I help my child be successful in intermediate school. The transition to intermediate can be challenging for some kiddos. The best thing a parent can do to support their child is to help them build organizational systems. Some students have trouble juggling the increased number of teachers and assignments. Help your child get into the routine of checking for work inside their flexi-folder every night. Look at graded assignments that are sent home to see if there are concepts your child is struggling to master. And sign up for a Parent Access account to monitor your child's grades. If you see zeros or "Z"s in the gradebook, it means that your child has not turned in their assignment. Encourage them to complete the work and turn it in. It's never too late to turn work in or too early to start building good study habits. If you don't have a Parent Access account CLICK HERE to register. Your involvement in their education is important. If you have questions on how else you can support your child, please reach out to your child's teacher or one of our school counselors.
Message from Our Nurse Mrs. Coyne
We're close to the start of the 2023-24 school year! Your school nurses wanted to remind you of a few things we'll need before the first day of school so that we can keep all students healthy, safe, and ready to learn :)
- If your child has a life-threatening health condition (Asthma, Severe Allergy requiring an Epi-pen, Seizure, Diabetes) please be sure to bring in your child's care plan and medication to the school clinic before the first day of school.
- Please provide the clinic with updated immunization records throughout the school year. Remember 6th graders need to have their Tdap and MCV4 vaccines before 7th grade.
- If your child will require medications at school, we must have medication forms signed by the parent/guardian and medication in the original container before we can administer medication at school.
