A Note about Report Cards (K-5th) 🍎
With report cards out this week, please take some time to celebrate your child's accomplishments and progress so far this year. Our children's progress is so much more than a number - it is a story filled with breakthroughs, teachable moments, some setbacks and memories. As you support your child at home, please remember to focus on strategies and develop a plan for success rather than focus on a number.
For Grades K-5, in particular, reports now have a common continuum of markings. As you review your child’s progress, please keep in mind that the progress report shows student growth on a learning continuum based on end of year grade level expectations. It is not reflective of the effort your child is making. Effort is a separate mark that is given on the progress report.
At this point in the year, it is normal for students to have many 1s and 2s. These marks should make forward progress as the year continues. For your reference, please see the Parent Letter from AUSD regarding report cards.
