Dear Robert Hunter Families,
We hope this message finds you well. Fall weather is here, and we welcome the month of October!
This past Friday, 4th grade students in Ms. Pinto/Ms. Dlouhy and Ms. Jaye’s classes led our whole school meeting. They did an amazing job! Leading up to the whole school meeting, we read aloud the book Circles All Around Us to all classes. This book teaches us to widen our circles by including others and getting to know new people. During our whole school meeting, we shared how we can make our own circles bigger this year. We sat in a whole school circle for our meeting, and ended with a whole school wave to show how our “caring ripples out in a million different ways.” Check out the video below!
Students in grades 1-4 have recently completed their NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing. This assessment provides valuable insights into your child's academic progress and growth throughout the school year. Assessment information will be available in the Genesis Parent Portal soon.
This upcoming week, we celebrate the Week of Respect. During this special week, our students will focus on the importance of being respectful in all they do, both inside and outside of the classroom. We believe that fostering a culture of respect is essential for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. Throughout the week, teachers will emphasize the values of kindness, empathy, and consideration for one another. We encourage you to continue this conversation at home, reinforcing the importance of respect and empathy in your child's daily life. Your support in promoting these values is invaluable. Together, we can help our students develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive academically and personally.
Please see the flyers below for spirit days that will take place each day during the Week of Respect.
Warm regards,
Jessica Braynor and Lindsay Shirvanian

A message from Ms. Corfield, Art Teacher:
October is International Inktober Month, a month-long activity that emphasizes drawing every day. People all over the world create simple black and white drawings and post on social media. Here in Robert Hunter we have an Inktober bulletin board. Starting October 2nd, if your child wants to participate, all they have to do is choose a word from the official Inktober 2023 prompt list which is posted on my district website, create a simple black and white drawing of it and hang it on our official bulletin board. They can do as many or as few as they want. The point is to practice--and enjoy--drawing!
Meet Ms. Rowe, our Literacy Coach!
We are thrilled to have Kari Rowe joining us at Robert Hunter as a literacy coach. She will be working with students and teachers to support literacy instruction at our school.
