ASB Presidential Election Results
THE RESULTS ARE IN! Congratulations to our new ASB Co Presidents Kyra Boyd and Mai Meltzer. Thank you to all the candidates who participated in the ASB Presidential Election. Your speeches and campaigns were excellent and we're looking forward to another great year in ASB. We'll have elections for Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer in the Fall. All students in 8th - 12th grade are welcome to join ASB.

Please note that the MEA campus will be closed Friday, June 2nd as the staff and Foundation will be preparing for the picnic,
This year's picnic is funded by the MEA Foundation. MEAF will be providing hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments.
* Mr. Zappala (our previous counselor) will be back at work on the barbecue turning out hot dogs and burgers.
* Parents, please bring a dish to share (salad, dessert, chips, fruit, etc.)
* Paper plates, napkins and utensils will be provided, but please bring your own reusable water bottle.
* There will be fun and entertainment for all!
* Join in the activities, or sit on the grass, enjoy the food and chat with friends.
* Bring chairs and blankets to sit on.
* If you purchased a yearbook, it will be available for you to pick up at the picnic. This is a great time to have your friends sign it, so don’t forget a pen!
This is a wonderful chance to celebrate the completion of a terrific school year and welcome summer vacation!
Yearbooks
All yearbooks ordered by the May 2 purchase deadline will be delivered to the school around May 26 and can be picked up in Ms. Rice’s room (B-16) during regular school hours. Any yearbooks not picked up by June 1 will be brought to the MEA Family Picnic on June 2 and can be picked up there. Yearbooks ordered after the deadline will be shipped to the student’s home. If you did not yet order a yearbook, it’s not too late! You can still order a yearbook and have it shipped to your home. (All books shipped to the home are subject to an additional shipping cost.) Re-enrollment & Book Return
It is almost time to return your books and say goodbye to this academic year! In order to make the transition easier, we have linked a schedule here for families to come in to complete the necessary re-enrollment paper work and to return student's library & text books.
If you missed the opportunity to re-enroll your Elementary School student for 2023-24 school year, please visit the front office by June 8th. Or, please complete it with your secondary school student’s re-enrollment if you are coming during the scheduled time listed below. If you are not returning to MEA, please email Ms. Ikeuchi at mikeuchi@sandi.net to let her know which school your student is transferring to.

Kinder Promotion
Kinder Promotion will be held in the Auditorium, June 6th at 10:00am.
5th and 8th Grade Promotion Luncheon and Ceremony
For our 5th and 8th grade families, we are excited to be hosting our traditional promotion luncheon again this year after a three year hiatus! Lunch will include sandwiches, chips, and salads.

Senior Graduation
Rehearsal is mandatory for all seniors who plan to participate in the graduation ceremony. Caps and gowns will be distributed at the end of rehearsal, followed by a senior celebration and cap decorating.
GRADUATION CEREMONY - Friday, June 9 / 6:00 pm / CPMA
The Big Day! Please feel free to invite family and friends to the graduation ceremony located at Creative Performing and Media Arts School, 5050 Conrad Ave, San Diego, CA 92117. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 pm. Graduates must arrive at 5:00 (report to the “Green Room” behind the stage)! Honor cords will be distributed in the Green Room just prior to the processional. We expect the ceremony to last less than one hour and it will be followed by a reception outdoors. Covid-19/Health protocols will be announced closer to the event, as needed.
Campus Highlights
Congratulations to Vihaan Bhardwaj for winning the 8th grade debate championship! After four rounds, Vihhan and Tristan Carlson were in the finals and debated if the US government should spend money on Artificial Intelligence. Thanks to all of the 8th grade students for making this years debates so competitive!

Transcripts for College
Attention Seniors: As college acceptances are coming in, please follow the directions on the linked Google Doc to request your final transcript through Xello for the college you will be attending. Some schools may want a mid-year transcript now and a final transcript after semester 2 grades are in. After requesting through Xello, please send me a follow-up email at arubin@sandi.net.

Summer Credit Opportunities
Gov/Econ:
American Government and Economics is a five-week program, for rising seniors, beginning June 20 and concluding July 21. The program experience will meet daily, Monday - Friday at Clairemont High School.
Students must make the commitment to be in attendance for the five-week duration to earn credit. Because this course is intended for those students seeking first time credit, there will be additional academic requirements outside of class time.
If you are interested in this summer experience and earning credit for American Government and Economics, please fill out this form by Friday, June 2, 2023. Once you express interest, you will receive an email no later than Friday, June 9, 2023 with all information pertaining to this wonderful opportunity.

Spanish 5-6 online:
The Spanish 5-6 online course begins July 24 and concludes August 8. The program experience and expectations for online learning will be communicated to students and families once student is enrolled.

AP Course Offerings
We are excited to provide an opportunity for you to take AP courses through UC Scout during summer 2023.
AP Courses offered through UC Scout this summer are independent study, asynchronous courses.
The courses begin in June and conclude in August. Students work at their own pace, but must complete the course before or on the end date that is determined for August. Dates forthcoming.
Applicable credits will be recorded on students' high school transcript. AP exam testing will not be offered this summer; however, students wishing to take the AP exam may register to do so during the 2023-24 school year.
UC Scout Teachers facilitate the courses, grade the courses, and provide weekly virtual office hours. There are a limited number of AP seats available in each of the following courses:
*AP Human Geography-Semester 1 and Semester 2
*AP Statistics-Semester 1 and Semester 2
*AP Art History-Semester 1 and Semester 2
*AP Computer Science Principles-Semester 1 and Semester 2
*AP Macroeconomics-Single Semester
