May Activities
Open to All Ages!
Cooking and gardening
Learn about native plants, pollinators, and ways to create garden beds that use less water. We’ll also help out around the garden. We’ll spend half the time in the food bank kitchen cooking up some delicious food!
When: May 12th from 12:20-2:20

We will finish the kinetic sculptures we began on April 28th. Don’t worry: you can still come if you didn’t make it in April

High School Updates
Welcome to the 2nd Annual CGCC Math Day!
Sign up now to attend this awesome event from Columbia Gorge Community College. Space is limited to 75 participants.
Math Day 2023 will be held on Friday, May 12th on The Dalles Campus
What do nursing, flying drones, and repairing wind turbines have in common? Math, of course! They’re also all career path programs at Columbia Gorge Community College, and on Friday, May 12, 2023 at the Second Annual CGCC Math Day, you can learn all about it!
High school students are invited to participate in this event from 9 am to 1:00 pm on CGCC’s The Dalles Campus. Space is limited to 75 students, so you’ll need to sign up on this form!
Sessions include “How to NOT Kill Your Patients” with nursing instructors Lorie Saito and Mimi Pentz, “What Do Machines See, Hear, and Feel?” with EM-Tech instructor Kalie Brunton, math games with our instructor Annette Byers, and other presentations and activities sure to foster an interest in or love of math for students!
There will also be food provided and prize drawings!

For Senior class 2023 HRCSD slide show, please share 5-10 pictures of your senior, individual & group ok. HRVHS is the one organizing this event and we will keep you posted on when and where the slide show will be in June.

Important Info for ALL Seniors
- Decision Day Celebration is tomorrow May 2nd at lunch time in the HRV courtyard (12:06-12:38). Remember to check in with the front office if you plan to attend.
- Stole/Sash purchase information: Do you want to show your cultural heritage on graduation day? You can request a stole using this link. This is not a graduation requirement, and is totally optional. Depending on the number ordered, the Stole could cost around $20-50.
- Walking Partner: If you already have a walking partner, please fill out this form to pair you up with them on graduation day. If you do not have a partner--DO NOT FRET! We will pair you up and let you know who your partner is before the big day!
Other Important HROA student info:
- If you did not pick up your cap and gown last week, we have it! Come on by and pick it up at any time. If you haven't ordered yet and need to--Please let us know asap! Email me and we will see if we can still order, or we also potentially have some extras that will fit you.
- Required practices: If you do not make it to the senior assemblies listed here on the senior webpage, know that there will be two REQUIRED practices the day before and the day of graduation in order for you to walk. Please also refer to the link above for all upcoming important dates!
- The HROA Senior webpages are very informative and helpful--I strongly suggest bookmarking them until you've made it to the end! Under the HROA Counseling page, scroll down to the bottom where it says "Seniors +"
- Prom and Senior Grad Party: We will be getting the Prom Guest Permission slips in this week, and I will let you know when they arrive. We have the Senior Grad Party permission slips. Come to HROA to get one.
- If you are an early grad and want to attend prom, you will need to attend as a guest. Ask a friend to get a guest permission slip for you! Please email me if you have questions about this policy.

HRVHS PROM INFO
When: May 20, 2023
Where: Fort Dalles Readiness Center, The Dalles
Time: 8pm - 11pm
Ticket Sales: May 8 - May 19
Guest Forms: Will be available starting May 8th & must be submitted by 4pm on Thursday, May 18
Important Things to Know for the 2023 Prom:
- Currently enrolled 11th & 12th Graders at HRVHS & HROA (Early Grads can be a 'guest' of enrolled student)
- Currently enrolled 9th & 10th Graders do not need a guest form, all others will need a guest form
- Prom voting closed and we will be "sashing" students next week at HRVHS during school hours.
Class of 2023 early graduates can purchase a prom ticket.
A formal invitation will be mailed home to all 11th and 12th graders the first week of May with the following details inside the envelope
