FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
We have come to the conclusion of another school year at Father Doyle School! In the words of St. Paul, "we have fought the good fight, we have finished the race, we have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7).
I want to first thank you for entrusting your children to us. We know choosing a school for your child is an incredibly important decision, and we remain committed to continually creating a school and community that you and your family can believe in. As I recently noted at our 8th grade graduation, this means not only instilling in students the required academic skills, but also the virtues necessary to love well, to act with integrity, and to passionately pursue what is good, true, and beautiful in their lives.
To that end, while I pray that the upcoming summer months provide you with an opportunity to enjoy time with family, rest, relax, and recharge, know that throughout the next two months, many staff will be working diligently to bring continued growth and improvement to our school. This includes a range of different initiatives, many of which are aligned with our 4-Year Strategic Plan. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Preparing for implementation of our new Friendzy curriculum, an intentional character building and social education program for all students in grades PK-8. To learn more about Friendzy, see the relevant slides from our State of the School Address here.
- Finalizing changes to our disciplinary policies including edits to our Parent-Student Handbook to ensure uniformity in behavioral expectations across grade levels and create more consistent application of consequences in the event of disciplinary action. Much of this work was completed during the 2022-2023 school year by members of our disciplinary committee.
- Reviewing materials and strategies surrounding our new writing standards which were completed at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year. We can't wait to see students grow and continue to improve their writing through the use of these newly aligned standards.
To learn more about these initiatives and others, I would encourage all families to review the presentation from our State of the School Address held in May.
In addition, we have several facilities upgrades taking place over the summer including the installation of all new exterior windows in the elementary wing of the school as well the installation of new furniture in the 5th grade room and the middle school English Language Arts room.
Lastly, please note that, over the summer months, the cadence of the FJVD Weekly Info will change to every two weeks rather than weekly. Again, thank you for entrusting your child to Father Doyle school, and we look forward to the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
Please be sure to continue reading for important updates and information for the coming weeks!
