MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE STEWART
Dear Happy Valley Community,
In this season of gratitude, I am reminded of everything we have to be grateful for. The parents, extended community, students and staff all work together to make Happy Valley a wonderful place to be. We had a fabulous time at the Happy Valley Gala last weekend, and so many people worked before, during and after to make the evening a success! Thank you to everyone who participated!
This week we had Master Salisbury from Lightspeed Martial Arts. He visited every classroom with Verbal Judo, a program that teaches students to respond positively and affirmatively to challenges and situations while increasing overall well-being and self-esteem. He ended the week with a Board Breaking ceremony. The students and staff have responded so well and we appreciate the lessons he is teaching us. He is so generous and is giving every student a Free Buddy Pass for a class at Lightspeed. These passes will be coming home after the break. Additionally, he donated some monthly passes to the auction that did not get purchased. If you would like one of these, we are asking for a minimum $25 donation to Parent Club. Please email me if you are interested. (First come first served!)
1 month Kickboxing (2 certificates)
1 month Martial Arts
1 hour Birthday party (2 certificates)
During the months of November and December the Student Council is organizing some events. We will have a Pajama and Socks Drive. The pajamas will be donated for children in foster care, any size from infant to teens. Socks will be collected for the homeless. All the items should be new and unwrapped, and brought to the classrooms by December 15. Additionally, students will be making Holiday cards for our community members in nursing homes and assisted living. I am so proud of the students for leading such important events. (We are also participating in a contest with SSDA, the Small School District Association, and students can submit their picture to be on the SSDA holiday card for the state of California.)
Be sure to check the lost and found. We will be donating everything that is left to charity today.
The teachers put so much effort into their report cards, and we appreciate families taking time out of their busy schedules and work to meet with us about your kids during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Thank you for partnering with us to meet the needs of each and every student.
Happy Thanksgiving!

MESSAGE FROM THE GARDEN
Thank you to everyone who brought in recycled supplies for our garden program. We still need ten clear recyclable one-gallon milk or juice containers for our winter seed sowing project, so if you could save those over the break that would be greatly appreciated. We also have our Amazon list that the parent club set up if anyone would like to help with supplies for the garden. The students and I counted this week, we have over 55 different plants growing right now in our garden.
Thank you!
Mr. Bowie
