We would like to welcome everyone back to school! We are so excited to see all of our Jaguars on Tuesday, January 19th. We appreciate all of your support that you provided to make virtual learning successful for all our students. We would like to thank our teachers, students, and parents for all their hard work and efforts during this time. Please remember to send all school supplies back as soon as possible. It is important that your child have all their materials so that learning is not interrupted. Please return Chromebooks and chargers, hot spots, webcams, math workbooks, reading textbooks and workbooks, supply boxes, and manipulatives. Every student will also need a mask. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are looking forward to Tuesday!

We have many students that stayed true to their PRIDE promise during our virtual learning. We would like to recognize the following students for outstanding behavior and hard work!

Mrs. Salomon's class has been hard at work during the past few months. They are working on routines and procedures and getting ready to come back to school 5 days a week. They are preparing to learn all about the inauguration of the president. The focus and upcoming theme will be on kindness. Take a look at some pictures below to see them in action.

On Monday, January 18th, at 7:00 p.m. I would like to invite you to a Virtual Town Hall Meeting. At this meeting, we will be discussing the protocols that will be used to keep your children safe as we return to in-person instruction. You will be able to view the meeting on the Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools Facebook. Because the Facebook page is public, you can watch the town hall whether or not you have a personal Facebook page.

In order to keep our buildings and classrooms safe and open, it is critical that we continue to be diligent in our efforts to avoid the spread of COVID-19. As we prepare to make this transition, I would like to share some information with you:

• If your child has symptoms of, or has been near a person with COVID-19, please do not send them to school. You should follow all CDC protocols for quarantines and isolation

.

• Whether your child is a virtual learner or a brick and mortar student, please continue to report all COVID-19 exposures and positive cases of COVID-19 to your building attendance line. You can also call the district COVID Hotline at (440)283-4401 to report any cases of COVID or to have your questions answered. The district is continuing to work with the Lake County General Health District to monitor the incidence of COVID in our schools and in the community.

• The USDA has continued the nationwide meal program which means that all Willoughby-Eastlake students will continue to receive a free lunch and breakfast each day.

• Willoughby-Eastlake will continue to send home meal packets each Friday with students who are in the buildings. For all other students, meal distribution will continue during the week from North and South High Schools.

• School hours are from 8:45am - 2:45pm. Students will not be allowed in the building before 8:20 am. There is no supervision before 8:20 am.
• Transportation will remain the same as far as pick up and drop off times.
• Medication needs to be returned to school by an adult. Please stop up to the office to drop it off as soon as possible.
• Students will be going out to recess everyday unless the temperature goes below 20 degrees. Please have your child dress appropriately for the winter weather by wearing coats, hats, gloves and boots daily.

Willoughby-Eastlake will be continuing with the USDA lunch program. Lunches and breakfast will continue to be offered to all of our students free of charge.

• There is no need to apply
• Breakfast: Covers entree, 2 fruit sides, and milk
• Lunch: Covers entree, up to 3 fruit and veggie sides, and milk.
