Straight From the Principal's Office
Hello Lincoln Families!!
February means Valentine’s Day is coming up, and spring is not too far away! It also means we have a busy month of activities to keep us warm. This month, we will focus on the character trait HONESTY: Being truthful in what you SAY and DO. Students will be learning ways that honesty can help build and strengthen relationships, and reduce stress in our lives. Be sure to check out the newsletter your child will bring home. Carve out some family time to have fun while practicing honesty.
Valentine’s Day classroom parties will take place on February 14. Details about your child’s class party will come home soon from teachers. Please remember to check with teachers about any potential allergy issues related to the treats you bring so that everyone can stay safe. This is very important! Healthy and allergy-safe treats ensure that everyone can enjoy the parties.
February is also a month that we are focusing on KINDNESS! National Random Acts of Kindness Day is on Saturday, February 17. Students will be challenged throughout this month to participate in our GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE. You can look for a flyer to come home this week. We are encouraging every staff member and student to participate. Students can keep track by checking off the acts of kindness they complete on the flyer. If they return it finished at the end of the month, we will have a sweet treat waiting for them, along with a special recognition!
In the great words of Henry James, “Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
Willis Wrap Up (Previous Counselor Corner)
Hi Lincoln Families,
There are so many fun things coming up in February that I want to share with you.
Next week, February 5-9th, is National School Counseling Week. The national theme this year is “School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused”. Children aren't raised, educated, or supported in a silo; it takes a team! I am so grateful to be a part of the Lincoln team, and part of the team supporting your students. I truly believe that I am a better counselor for getting to work with you, so THANK YOU!
If you are curious about my role here at Lincoln, reach out and ask questions.
Kindness Month Initiatives
Lincoln's Annual Kindness Month will be taking place in February. It will have a week of spirited dress up days ( February 12-16th), activities at and lunch, and the Great Kindness Challenge. Each student will receive a Kindness Challenge checklist from their teacher that lists out a bunch of ways to show kindness, both at home and at school. Students will be asked to check off each item as they are completed,(k/1 & 2-4) and can turn them in by the end of the month to be entered into our Kindness Raffle. Many of the items are things you can do together as a family!
Help Lincoln become a Kindness Certified School and complete the Great Kindness Challenge!
Girls on The Run
I am so happy to announce that we will be having Girls on The Run back this spring. A few staff volunteers as well as myself will be coaching Girls on The Run (GOTR) this year. This is a program for girls in grades 3-4. GOTR lessons focus on building social, emotional and physical skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits for life. Each season comes to an end with a joyful and fun non-competitive 5K. This culmination gives girls a tangible sense of accomplishment and the confidence to be the author of her story.
The enrollment is first come, first serve. If you are interested in enrolling your daughter please keep the following dates in mind: Tuesday, February 6 - Sunday, February 11 is online enrollment, please also note that sessions/practices will be held on Tuesday/Thursdays 3:30pm-4:45pm starting on March 4th-May 16th, with the 5k being held on May 11th.
Weekender Bags
If you would like to participate and receive a weekly food bag from Feeding Medina County, please sign the permission form at the bottom of the attached letter and return to the Lincoln office.

News from the Nurse 👩⚕️
The Lincoln Elementary School Clinic urgently needs your support. If you or your loved ones have any new or gently used clothing items, please consider donating them to our school nurse. We're running low on spare clothes, essential for various situations, leaving the clinic nearly out. Your donations will prevent parents/guardians from being called for a change of clothes.
Items needed most:
- Girls' leggings/sweatpants: Sizes 5-6, 7-8, 10
- Boys' sweatpants/joggers: Sizes 5-6, 7-8, 10
Your generosity can make a difference. Let's come together to ensure every student has what they need. Drop off your donations at the school clinic. Thank you for being a crucial part of our Lincoln family!
