Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure Updates!
Important Update! Kids Express Parking Routes
We have updated our school's traffic flow and dismissal procedures to include Kids Express. These changes have been implemented to prioritize our students, staff, and the school community's safety and well-being.
PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF STUENTS PRIOR TO 8:15AM AS THERE IS NO SUPERVISION. ENROLL THEM IN KIDS EXPRESS IF YOU NEED THEM TO BE AT SCHOOL BEFORE 8:15AM.
1. Bus Drop-off and Pick-up: The front NE parking lot will be designated exclusively for bus drop-off and pick-up. Vehicles mustn't enter the BUS ONLY lane, as it is necessary to keep both lanes clear for the safe loading and unloading of students, especially those requiring special education (SPED) services. I kindly request your cooperation in adhering to this rule for the safety of all students.
2. Parent Car Drop-off and Pick-up: Parent car drop-off and pick-up will be located on the SE service road behind the field off of Canal Street. This designated area has been chosen to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and minimize congestion. I ask parents to follow the designated route and use this area for car drop-off and pick-up purposes.
3. Left Turns Only: Parents must make left turns only when exiting the SE service road. This measure is in place to maintain a steady traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents. I appreciate your understanding and compliance with this directive.
4. Staff Parking Lot: Please be informed that the parking lot is for staff use only. Please refrain from parking in this area to ensure sufficient parking spaces for our staff members.
5. Student Walkers: Students who walk home from school will exit from the front of the school. Students who walk to school will enter the MPR gate West of the staff parking lot. I encourage them to follow pedestrian safety rules and utilize designated crossing points when necessary.
6. E. Elgin St. Community Gate: Students who walk may also enter or exit from the E. Elgin St. community gate located off of S. Canal Dr. Families may park on Elgin St. and walk up to the gate to pick up their student.
6. Kindergarten Walkers Dismissal: Dismissal will occur at 3:05 pm at the E. Elgin St. community gate or at the main gate at the front of the school for kindergarten students. Parents must arrive promptly to pick up their children at this designated location and time. Note that there is no parent parking in the front parking lot. This is for visitors or our PreK and Specialized Program families.
We ask for your patience and understanding as these traffic flow plans and dismissal procedures are there for the efficiency and safety of all.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these updates, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. We are here to assist you and provide any necessary clarification.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation in ensuring the well-being of our students. We can create a safe and organized school environment that benefits everyone by working together.
2024-2025 Transportation Registration
Transportation: ALL families must register to ride the bus!
The transportation department has sent emails about the updated bus registration process for all families. This must be done, even if you are a returning student and want bus riding privileges to continue. Feel free to contact our office if you have questions.
Families eligible for busing can register for the 2024-25 school year starting May 6, 2024.
ALL students riding the bus MUST be registered each year.
The process is about the same as this past year, but there will be extra communication. Not only will parent portals have a date & time stamp of when they submitted their request, they will also receive email confirmations acknowledging their submission, approval &/or denial including the reason for denial.
Bus route details will be updated in their Infinite Campus accounts. Parents are advised to check there for their student's specific bus details after July 8, 2024 if they receive an approval email.
Only eligible students registered by Friday, July 12th can expect bus services to start for the 1st week of school.
When you do call or email, please have your student's ID ready. In addition, please check Infinite Campus (IC) for bus details (Parent Portal > Menu > More > Transportation).
Go to our website for details on registration and for any additional information you may need.
Again, we appreciate your patience. By working together, we can keep the safety and success of our students at the center of our work every day.
Safety First!
At Bologna, you may notice the following:
- All staff members will be in neon-colored safety vests when on duty
- All classroom doors will be locked during the school day
- Exterior gates will be locked during school hours
- All visitors must sign-in at the office
- Our School Security Officer, Sierra, will stop by our campus daily and is always a phone call away.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students and staff safe at school.
ParentSquare
If you have not yet signed up for Parent Square (we recommend the App), please use the link or QR code for more information.
The District Office and All Schools will be using Parent Square and Student Square as the new mode of communication. Infinite Campus Messenger will no longer be in use.
High Heat Protocol
During recess, students will stay indoors where they will have multiple opportunities throughout the day for body movement and brain breaks.
We kindly ask for your patience during dismissal. Students will be held indoors until they are called to their cars or buses. While we do our best to get the kids out to you as quickly as possible, please understand that our staff will endure high heat while you wait in your air-conditioned vehicle.
Kindness and patience are greatly appreciated as our hardworking staff on duty maneuver first-day arrival and dismissal during this heat wave.

Liquids in Classrooms
Communication
You can expect a monthly school newsletter at the beginning of each month, with the exception of July via ParentSquare.
School Meals at No Charge to All Students
School Meals at No Charge for All Students
We are excited to announce, that we have qualifed for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for school year 2024-2025. This is a USDA program for the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs that provides one breakfast and one lunch per student for FREE every school day.
All students enrolled at Bologna are eligible to receive one breakfast and one lunch meal every school day, at no cost. As part of this update, household applications for free and reduced priced meals will no longer be accepted/required for students to receive meals.
Please note: Although this update ensures that CUSD families attending these schools will not accrue school meal debt moving forward, parent/guardians who accrued school meal debt prior to July 1, 2024, will still be responsible for payment. Families who have a school meal debt balance will still receive phone calls/email reminders each week.
