THE PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear HCS Families and Caregivers,
We hear over and over again from newer staff members that a major reason they really like working at HCS is that everyone is so friendly and courteous, plus we all like to laugh. We know that encouraging a sense of play among our staff members is an important part of creating a collaborative learning community where creativity, problem-solving, and positive connection are the norm. This first week that culture is shining through and our students are the direct beneficiaries.
We also want to share some exciting news for the upcoming school year. We recently learned that the Hinesburg Community School was selected as one of 10 schools to partner with the national education nonprofit organization, Transcend, to be a part of their second cohort of the Rural Schools Design Community. This is a ten-month program where school administrators and faculty will prioritize reimagining our school model to better serve students and families.
As part of this cohort, our school will convene multiple times and work with a Transcend coach to gain experience in centering student voices and leading a community-based school design process that will drive equitable results for all students. We will also integrate insights from the science of learning and development and will have opportunities to learn from other rural school colleagues in our cohort, as well as innovative school models nationwide. There will also be opportunities to integrate your input into the process so studentsβ education experiences and outcomes better reflect the strengths and needs of our community.
We will share more details as this partnership kicks off later in September, but wanted you to hear this exciting news from us first. We look forward to our partnership!
Best,
Suzan and Tim

Dear CVSD Families and Caregivers,
Our district values your feedback! Starting on September 22 and continuing through October 9, we will be asking you to take a brief survey to tell us about your experience with the school(s) your child attends. To ensure we continue to provide high-quality learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We invite you to share your thoughts.
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please donβt hesitate to contact us using Let's Talk.
Thank you,

A REQUEST FROM THE OFFICE
To report any and all attendance updates for your child, we kindly ask that you do one of the following:
- email us at hcsattendance@cvsdvt.org
- call 802-482-2106 and select option 1
It is not necessary to let the teacher know that your child will be late or absent. It IS necessary to let the office know. Please let us know the first and last name of your child, their grade or homeroom teacher and the reason they will be late/absent.
Please read our ATTENDANCE FAQ's
If there is a change of plans for end of day transportation, please let us know (using one of the two options above) by 12:45 on early dismissal days and 1:45 on regular dismissal days, so that we have time to process bus notes, contact the classroom teacher and ensure the student has a change of transportation form to give to the bus driver.
If you would like to pick your child up during the school day, please call 802-482-2106, option 3, FIVE TO TEN MINUTES BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL AT HCS. This will allow us enough time to locate your child, have them pack up their items and meet you in the HCS office, where they can be signed out.
