Principal's Message
Hathaway Community, We could not have made it through this incredibly challenging year without your support! We had students back full time as we recovered from the COVID pandemic. This year provided us all with many opportunities to learn and grow! Thank you for all of your encouragement and help!
Trimester 3 Progress Report cards will be mailed home the week of June 20 - June 24
Please take a few moments to read our entire newsletter. This issue contains lots of important information about the end of the school year, some great pictures of events and some of the chores we have to finish up!
Reminder that every Wednesday of the year is an early release day. Kindergarteners dismiss at 11:26 am grades First - Fifth dismiss at 1:02 pm.
Even though the end of the school year is almost here we still have a lot to learn! Please continue to support our students by:
- Encouraging you child to read every night. 20 to 30 minutes reading everyday will help make a big difference in their learning lives.
- Encourage your child to count, add, subtract multiply and divide. Encourage them to solve math problems and see how math is a part of our daily lives at work and at home.
Please note the changes in our daily schedule for the last week of school. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress or need any support at school or home, please stop by, call, email or text us! If you or your student have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the office staff or me at 805-488-2217

Summer Reading Challenge
Ray D Prueter Library is launching its “Read Beyond the Beaten Path!” summer reading challenge on May 15, 2022. Over the summer, the library will host a range of free activities for children, teens, and adults to encourage and support a love of reading.
Themed events include bi-weekly STEAM Kits and challenges, participation in the library’s online reading and activity log (register at vencolibrary.beanstack.org), themed Storytimes, and a closing party hosted by Kona Ice. This year Ventura County Library is giving away 13 Nintendo Switch Grand Prizes as well as smaller STEAM prizes, including musical instruments, throughout the summer. In addition, once a child has logged 500 minutes, they may visit their local branch to choose a free new book to add to their home libraries.
There’s so much to see, so much to do at the library! It is one of the best places to take kids, especially during the summer months when children are out of school. The library is a place to learn, read, and have fun…a place the entire family can enjoy. The amount of time children spend reading outside of school is linked to improvements in reading achievement. Many studies show that access to books and other reading materials is directly related to higher reading achievement.
Registration continues through August 14, 2022. To learn more about the summer reading adventure at the library, please check out the library’s website at vencolibrary.org. We hope you will share the attached letters and flyer with your school communities.
