Happy New Year!

Hello Coleman Middle School Community,

I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

Today is my first day as your new principal!

I want to thank the entire Coleman Middle School and Duluth Community for the warm welcome! I am proud to have been appointed as your new principal at Coleman Middle School, Georgia’s and Gwinnett’s first certified STEAM School.

The purpose of this special edition is to share my transition goals with you, how I will continue the tradition of communication you have become accostumed to at Coleman MS, and share some information about me, if you have not had the opportunty to visit the Coleman MS website lately.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and working with you!

Dr. Hernandez' Transition Goals:

In the spirit of accountability and communication, I want to share with you the two main goals that will guide my first 100 days.

Goal #1: Engage in a Learning Tour of Coleman Middle School, through reading and dialogue with students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.

Goal #2: Lead an organic and effective transition of the instructional framework, culture and climate, and school operations, focusing on student and teacher support during this time of change.

Coleman Connection:

In response to feedback shared by students, parents, faculty, and community members during the process of selection of the new principal, I will continue emailing and posting on our website the Coleman Connection Newstletter every Friday , including a principal's video message with timely updates and weekly highlights.

Coffee with the Principal:

Join me once a month to chat, connect, and exchange information and perspectives about our school and community. Can't come in person? No worries, I will host digital sessions too! Mark your calendars, our first Coffee with the Principal will be on February 1st. Times and links will be shared on upcoming Newsletters!
