Using a Listserv
What is a List Serve?
A Listserv is a method of communicating with a group of people via email. When sending an email through a Listserv, you send one email message to the “reflector” email address, and the software sends the email to all of the group’s subscribers. A Listserv would commonly be something similar to staff@baytownisd.org
Using a Listserv in Smore
You can use a Listserv in Smore by adding it to a mailing list, but we recommend not to. Why?
1. We cannot guarantee deliverability to all of the email addresses associated with the Listserv email address.
2. We are able to see whether the newsletter was successfully delivered to the one email address that represents the entire Listserv. However, we cannot investigate and repair any deliverability issues for individual email addresses associated with the Listserv.
3. You will not be able to see your individual recipients' status on your newsletter's Email Report.
We recommend creating a contact list and sending your newsletter through Smore. That way, we can investigate any deliverability issues. The Analytics Feature will also be more accurate so you can see who unsubscribed, opened, and viewed your newsletters.
4. If one user unsubscribes and blocks themselves from your mailing list, the whole listserv will be blocked too.
