LOCKERS
The lockers have been assigned! Students will be able to use their lockers beginning TOMORROW (Tuesday 8/29) PROVIDED YOUR CHILD BRINGS IN A COMBINATION LOCK to secure their locker items. If your child has been assigned a locker, it will be listed in Infinite Campus (please look on the menu on the left side of the home page and click on 'More' then click on 'Locker' and make note of the 3 digit locker number. That is your assigned locker (if you do not have a locker number, you were not assigned a locker)). To help find your locker in the morning: Lockers 1- 242 are in the front hallway and lockers 515 - 746 are in the back hallway. Also, keep in mind that lockers are permitted to be used only at the following times of day:
- Prior to 8:40 am
- Immediately before lunch
- Immediately after lunch
- After 3:30 pm (at the end of the day)
7th & 8th Grade Curriculum Night is Tuesday
If you are planning on attending, please make sure you get your child's schedule and have it with you on Tuesday night! You will be following that schedule for a portion of the evening to hear from each of their teachers.
- 5:30 pm for 7th grade families
- 6 pm for 8th grade families
- These evenings are directed for parents, it is not necessary to bring your child.
- Parking will be at a premium. Please walk/ride a bike if you can or park on Riva Ridge or Venetian Way (and use the foot path across from HPES). Thank you for being patient with us.
REQUIRED Emergency Medical Update
Please make sure you complete the Emergency Medical/Student Information Update in Infinite Campus PRIOR to your arrival to pick up your child’s schedule.
6th Grade Update
It was great to see so many parents at open house! Thank you for attending. Students learned about the Launchpad this week or will be doing so on Monday in their House. This “one stop shop” spreadsheet, set up by week, can also help parents check in with their students about how they are doing with their work and if they’re completing assignments.
We have been discussing creating a positive climate and establishing expectations within our class as well as a grade level. Please see the attached document about our book signature policy if expectations are not met.
Blue and yellow hand-outs came home with your child this week for Adventure Day on Friday, September 8, at Hannah Park. They will need to be returned to your child’s House teacher(s) ASAP! Please pay fees through Infinite Campus as soon as possible if you have not yet done so. If you can volunteer, please click the link here to sign up.

7th Grade Update
All 7th grade students are currently reading Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie! Ask your 7th grader how it’s going!
8th Grade Update
- Parents, check Infinite Campus to get a copy of your child’s schedule for when you come to Curriculum Night on Tuesday!
- 8th grade community supplies needed! If you are able to contribute supplies, teachers would appreciate classroom hand sanitizer, gallon baggies, and more tissues. Feel free to drop off during curriculum night outside of Room 8.

Meal Charge Policy Change
Due to excessive negative meal balances across the District, all Gahanna-Jefferson schools will be reinstating a previously used meal charge policy. Starting Sept. 5, 2023, any student with more than five lunch charges this school year will receive a substitute meal in the cafeteria. At the elementary level this means accounts with more than $13.75 in negative charges and at the middle and high school levels, this includes accounts that have accrued more than $15 in debt. The substitute breakfast will consist of a breakfast bar, fruit and milk and the substitute lunch will include a cheese (turkey for dairy substitute) sandwich, fruit and milk.
Families will receive a phone call and/or email starting with the second negative charge to alert you of the deficit in your student's account.
If you need to add funds to your student’s account, you can do so through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal or with a check or cash. Additionally, if you think your family would qualify for free or reduced meals, you can apply via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, print a paper application from the District website or fill out a paper application found in the office at each building. Any student that is approved for free or reduced lunch for the 2023-24 school year will receive a regularly menued meal. Families with a negative balance from a previous school year will be contacted by the District office to ensure full payment by the end of the 2023-24 school year.
