iPad Protection Plan - It's Not Too Late
You Can Still Purchase the iPad Protection Plan for 23-24
District 196 offers an optional Protection Plan to families for $20 per iPad to cover the cost of potential theft and damage throughout the school year.
Families can accept the Protection Plan at any time throughout the school year by logging into their MyPaymentsPlus account, searching for “iPad” and selecting the desired option to accept or decline the protection plan. Both options ask to review and acknowledge the Student User Agreement. Without the protection plan, the family will be responsible for any costs associated with damage to the iPad.
The plan is FREE for students eligible for the Educational Benefits Program, but you MUST go to MyPaymentsPlus to "purchase" it. When you check-out, the $20 fee will be waived. It is recommended that parents and guardians complete the Educational Benefits application first. The Educational Benefits application is available at District196.org; select Services from the main menu, then Nutrition Services.
More information is available at District 196 Back-to-School Resources.

Eastview WIN Time on Wednesday Afternoons in the Learning Commons
Starting Wednesday, November 1st, students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

2024-2025 FAFSA Form Launch Date: December 31st, 2023
The new 2024-2025 FAFSA® Form will be available on December 31, 2023. While we wait for the new FAFSA® Form to become available, now is the perfect time for students and their contributors to get their FSA IDs. That way, you are ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® as soon as it becomes available.
While additional information can be found on the Federal Student Aid website, we included some key FAQs related to the FSA ID:
What is an FSA ID?
An FSA ID is a username and password that is required to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED websites such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Why do you recommend doing this now?
Processing a new FSA ID can take up to 5 business days. By getting those IDs now, it means students and their families will be ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® once it's available and not have to wait for their FSA IDs to process.
Who needs an FSA ID?
Beginning with the 2024–25 FAFSA®, all contributors (student, student's spouse, and/or parent) must have their own FSA ID.
To find out if you are eligible for financial aid and to submit a FAFSA®, please visit the Federal Student Aid eligibility page.
How does someone get an FSA ID?
To create an FSA ID, please go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
What if the student or contributor doesn’t remember their FSA ID or is not sure if they have one?
To retrieve a forgotten FSA ID or password, please go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing and click either the "Forgot my Username" or "Forgot my Password" links.
What if the parent of a student doesn't have a Social Security Number (SSN)?
Those contributors without an SSN, but whose student is eligible to apply for federal student aid, will need an FSA ID. However, they cannot yet create an FSA ID without an SSN. It is expected that this access will be available around the same time the FAFSA® is released.

New: UPCOMING COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY VISITS
Students should stop by the Counseling Office and get a pass to attend the college/university/military Rep Visit prior to the right visit. The visits are small group meetings typically lasting 20/30 minutes. These admission reps are often times the same people that review college applications, so it's a great connection for students.
