We are counting down the days until we kick off the 2021-22 school year and could not be more excited to welcome our students and staff back into our buildings! This summer has been full of anticipation in regards to guidance around school safety and protocols. We have been in regular contact with Larimer County Health regarding school safety and have planned for the beginning of the year based on their guidance. Please find information regarding school schedules, safety guidelines, and sanitation practices.

School Schedule:

New Vision Charter School will be offering full in-person instruction Monday through Friday at both the K-3 and 4-8 Campuses for the 2021-22 school year. Families who prefer a virtual education will need to contact Thompson Online Connect (TCO) to register. Families registering for TCO will not have their slots retained at NVCS.

Masking and Sanitation

Throughout the summer NVCS administrators have continued to partner with officials at the Larimer County Departments of Health and Environment to help coordinate the safety precautions that will be in place in our buildings. Similar to what was shared earlier this month by TSD, here is what has been determined so far:

Per the latest public health orders, masks will be highly recommended for all unvaccinated individuals, both staff and students. At this time there is no requirement for masks for students, even those who are not yet eligible for vaccination.
The NVCS community will be mask-friendly and support families who want their children masked in schools and activities. We know students and staff are making a choice to protect themselves and others by continuing to wear masks, and we want them to feel comfortable and supported doing so.
Social distancing: At this point in time there are no public health orders regarding social distancing. NVCS will continue to maximize space as much as possible in our schools.
Sanitation and Air Flow: NVCS has invested in a variety of high-quality cleaning and sanitizing materials. Students have been asked to bring hand sanitizer on the school supply list, this is so each student can have access to their own personal sanitizer.

We are following the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidelines in response to COVID-19, which includes longer system run times and increased exhaust.
Daily disinfection of all areas throughout the building will occur, including multiple daily restroom disinfections.
Classes will be held outside when appropriate.
Additional handwashing and sanitation stations will be placed in schools as needed to promote cleanliness.

Student Illness: As with last year we are encouraging all families to keep students who are ill home. If your student is not feeling well please err on the side of caution and keep them home from school. The less illness brought to school, the less spread is possible.
The Larimer County Health Department has made it very clear that quarantines will still happen if needed. When the county reaches the 70% (currently Larimer County has a 68% vaccination rate) threshold for vaccinations we will be given greater flexibility in the quarantine regulations.

While we must remain vigilant, particularly when it comes to potentially deadly COVID-19 variants, we recognize there are fewer cases of COVID-19 than earlier in the pandemic and that children under the age of 12 are less likely than adults to experience severe disease, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. We encourage all students and staff who are eligible to get vaccinated and will continue to partner with TSD to provide opportunities to do so. Final guidance from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment and the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment will be published at the end of this month. These details will further define our guidance as we start the school year.

Please note that while we made these return-to-learn plans based upon current recommendations, there is always the possibility that changes will need to be made based on additional direction from county and state officials. More information will be forthcoming as COVID-19 continues to evolve in our community.

Last year’s Student Check-In was so successful with individual student appointments we decided to continue the tradition this year. Parents, you will receive an email with your student’s homeroom teacher and a link to their Mandatory Student Check-In Sign Up later this week. Please note that check-in will be by appointment only, no drop-ins will be allowed. If you cannot make the student check-in please contact your student’s homeroom teacher.

School pictures will be taken during your check-in time, so please dress your best!

Driveline tags and procedures will also be provided to families during student check-in.

NVCS Start and End Times:

K-3 Campus:

7:20: Driveline Begins (No Supervision)

7:30 - 7:45: Supervision

7:30-7:40 a.m.- Student Breakfast served in the cafeteria (optional)

7:45 a.m.- Line-up Bell and Morning Welcome

7:50 a.m.- Students enter classrooms and prepare for the day

8:00 a.m.- Tardy Bell - Students should be in their seats ready to learn. Students entering the building after 8:00 will be issued a tardy pass.

3:15 p.m- Start of Driveline

4-8 Campus:

7:30 a.m.- Students report to playground/turf field on the West side of the campus

7:30-7:45 a.m.- Student Breakfast served in the cafeteria (optional)

7:50 a.m.- First Bell Students will enter the building

8:00 a.m.- Tardy Bell-Students should be in their seats ready to learn. Students entering the building after 8:00 will be issued a tardy pass

Student Vaccination Clinic

NVCS will be offering a student COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the 4-8 campus on Monday and Tuesday, August 9th and 10th from 12 pm - 4 p.m.

We are so excited to welcome you back to school. I love the excitement. It is going to be a great year.

Mandatory Student Check-In and Material Drop-Off

Class assignments and sign-ups have been sent out. If you have not received yours, please let me know so we can get that information to you. Please bring ALL SCHOOL SUPPLIES to mandatory student check-in. Please make sure to stop by the office to pick up Driveline Numbers and pay student fees during check-in.

First Day of School

Please plan on using driveline or walking students to school on the 1st day of school. We ask that you do not park, unless you are a Kindergarten parent. Kindergarten Parents, you will need to please stay behind the black fence for safety reasons.

Driveline

Please review the Driveline procedures and protocols prior to Friday. We ask that you practice with your child getting in and out of the car. This will help driveline be smooth and efficient.

School Lunches

We are pleased to announce that NVCS will be offering free breakfast and lunch to all students. If you choose to send your child with a home lunch, please make sure to practice opening their containers.

Boys and Girls Club

If your child attends Boys and Girls Club, please make sure they know that they are to go to Boys and Girls Club after school. This will help us release the correct student. Please let your child's teacher know as well if they will be attending Boys and Girls Club. If they normally go and for one day aren't going, please remind your student and email your child's teacher.
