Paw Print Press 2.0
December 1, 2023
Happy December!
Hello Wolf Pack Families,
I hope that you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Winter has thrown us some warmer weather causing very icy conditions. Students are anxious for snow to cover our playground so they can return to outdoor recess. Thank you in advance for reminding your student to wear warm gear for walking to school, the bus stop, outdoor time at lunch and for PE activities. We do have some items in Nurse T's office if your child needs a spare sometime.
This edition of Paw Print Press 2.0 is packed with a lot of different topics. Please take note of important events and dates coming up. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to our entire Running Wolves pack finishing Quarter 2 strong!
Student Council Sponsored Food Drive
The Student Council is organizing a food drive. Our goal is 500 pounds of food. Please send in canned foods, fruit cups, peanut butter and other healthy non-perishable food items. The food drive starts Dec. 4th and ends the 18th. Thank you for your support.
Reminders for the Drop Off & Pick Up Loop
- Please only pick students up from the curbside pick up lane. It is extremely dangerous to have students crossing multiple lanes of traffic. DO NOT PARK in the pick up lane. This lane should continuously move as cars move on, please pull up.
- Please be mindful of your speed as you travel through the pick up lane. Our young running wolves are out and about and we want to be sure they get to their destination safely.
- Students in grades K-3 should not be crossing the crosswalk to the parking lot without an adult. Please accompany your child across the crosswalk when coming to pick them up.
- Thank you for minding the traffic flow of our pick up loop. Please refer to the picture to review our pick up traffic flow.

If you (or another adult in your family) are interested in helping tie skates or monitor the rink on Thursdays or Fridays for an hour or two, please use this link to sign up to volunteer. We hope to be able to start skating on December 11, though the rink preparation timeframe is largely out of our hands. C'mon snow!!

Winter MAP Growth Assessment Testing--12/4 - 12/15
Our HG K-6 and NBHD 3-6 Running Wolves will participate in the second administration of the MAP Growth Assessment beginning Monday, December 4th. Our focus is on growth. Growth as individuals, classes, and grade-levels. This growth is measured starting with the Fall assessment and each student has their own growth goal.
Our MAPGrowth data is collected throughout the year and is extremely important for our teachers review, as it as part of instructional adjustments and class placement. The results show student growth and is how we make adjustments to our students' WIN class. There are a variety of different WIN classes ranging from curricular review to extensions.
mCLASS Assessment Testing Window--12/4 - 12/15
The Testing Team will be at Rogers Park on 12/14/22 (AM & PM) and 12/15/22 (AM). All K-3 students will be assessed with themCLASS Assessment. Families, click here to access the mCLASS Newsletter.
A Note from Nurse T
Just a friendly reminder with all of those coughs and colds going around, that any medication (even over-the-counter) requires paperwork to be filed in my office. I have forms available for you to sign for cough medicine, cough drops, Tylenol, and Advil. In a pinch, I can call you for permission, but if it’s something that will be regularly used or over the course of several days, the form is the way to go.
Please keep your kids home if they have a fever or have vomited in the past 24 hours. Temperatures tend to go up as the day goes on, so if there’s a questionable fever in the morning, please keep them home from school. Colds and coughs are going around and it is generally OK to send them to school with those, but please make sure they feel well enough to be here for the day. As always, please free to call me with any questions about whether or not to send your student to school.
Thank you and stay warm out there!
