They're Historically Black Colleges and Universities, institutions that have played a pivotal role in African American education. NPHC, or the National Pan-Hellenic Council, represents historically Black Greek-letter organizations. Let's honor the legacy and showcase our unity in style!

Room 121 Spotlight: Circuit Project with Upper School STEAM
7th grade students concluded a multi-week unit on electricity and circuits in STEM with Mrs. Hamilton.
They began by building circuits understanding what materials conduct electricity (testing different metals) and how they are built. They then tested the circuits using something you wouldn't think mixes well with electricity - water! They dipped wires into water and compared water with and without salt to discover that salt water conducts electricity better. The speakers were louder when dipped into the salt water.
Finally, they made their own play dough to use in their circuits mixing flour, water, oil, and salt (which they now learned that salt can conduct electricity!). They hooked up batteries and LED lights to the playdough to see that the lights turned on!
Once again the salt in the play dough was able to act as a wire they incorporated modeling clay as well which does NOT conduct electricity (this is an insulator). This was a really fun AND informative unit. Great job 7th graders!
