SBA testing dates
Our students in grades 3rd - 6th started the Smarter Balance Assessment this week. Please check the remaining dates and try to make sure that your child is here for each of those days. It is difficult for the students to make- up the tests in a different location. It is always best to test in their classroom with their teacher! We will be administering our tests on the following days:

AquaSox Hit a Homerun Reading Challenge
It is time to get ready for baseball season with some fun reading! Our school is participating in a month-long program presented by the Everett AquaSox & Sound Transit that will motivate your child to become a Home Run Reader. Each classroom and student will have weekly reading goals. They will receive various prizes as they reach those goals. The students will be reading “around the bases” to reach home plate and will receive prizes for completing the program. One of the prizes will be a free ticket to an Everett AquaSox baseball game! We will be celebrating the end of the school year in style with a great night at the ballpark. With your support and encouragement, your child will have a positive attitude toward reading and their reading skills will improve. Good reading habits will carry your child through spring and into summer!
Parents, help your child use the tracking sheet to record the minutes your child has read each night. We have indicated your child’s weekly goal of 75 + minutes of reading and/or listening to books. Return the tracking sheet to the library each Monday so that we can track your reading & prizes. Thank you for your involvement and enthusiasm in producing a HOME RUN READER!!
Read 75+ minutes at home. Complete the form and return it to the library each Monday am for 4 consecutive weeks.
Each Monday morning the tracking sheet (Links to an external site.) is due to the library to get the prize.

Transportation for 2022 - 2023 School Year

So that we can better plan student transportation needs and routes/schedules for the 2022—2023 school year, we have implemented an online Student Transportation Input Form at https://www.sno.wednet.edu/Page/5342. Between now and through early summer, we are asking all parents/guardians of 2022-2023 students to please complete this form. The form only needs to be completed once per student.
Once Upon A Mattress -Snohomish High School
Snohomish High School student theatre presents Once Upon A Mattress. The kingdom is under a curse! Queen Aggravain has decreed that no one shall be able to wed until her sweet, beautiful, special boy, Prince Dauntless, gets married. The problem is, no potential princess can pass the queen’s eligibility test. But maybe the unconventional Princess Winnifred can beat the test and undo the curse. Based loosely on the fairy tale, “The Princess and the Pea,” this family-friendly musical has been delighting audiences for over 60 years!
Performances will be held May 6, May 7, May 13, May 14, May 20, and May 21 at Snohomish High School (1316 Fifth Street in Snohomish). Evening performances each day at 7 p.m., Saturday matinees at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15/adults and $10 student/senior citizens (over 65)/military. Tickets are available for purchase at showtix4u.com/events/shstheatre or at the door with cash only.
This musical has a recommended age rating of PG for mild sexual humor and alcohol.
Reminder: Tdap Immunization Requirement for 7th grade
Dear Parent or Guardian,
As of August 1, 2020 the required Tdap vaccine has changed to 7th grade to better align with the updated 2019 national immunization schedule (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/hcp/imz/child-adolescent.html). In the past, the Tdap booster was required for all 6th grade students, unless they have a provider-signed exemption form.
For the 2022-2023 school year, all students attending grades 7 through 12 must have one dose of Tdap vaccine, before starting school.
• For students in 7th grade, the Tdap vaccine must be given at or after age 10 to be accepted for school entry.
• For students in 8th to 12th grades, the Tdap vaccine must be given at or after age 7 to be accepted for school entry.
To update your child's Tdap immunization record at the school, you will need to turn in a medically verified immunization record. Your child's health care provider can print this for you, or you can print it from MylR, which is a free Department of Health online tool that allows families to view and print their official immunization records themselves. Go to https://wa.myir.net/register to begin the sign-up process.

I highly recommend parents schedule an appointment for your 6th grade student to receive this vaccine ASAP, if they haven’t already received it. Please bring confirmation, as outlined above, to middle school (VVMS- RN) registration, scheduled for August 24, 10am-1pm & 4-7pm. Thank you!
