Help feed the hungry at Ross Dec. 4
Volunteer opportunities at the Ross Holiday Festival!
Support the Ross Holiday Festival this weekend!
We need your help to make our fundraising and community event a success!
Celebrate the holiday season with Ross PTA this Saturday starting at 9 am at Ross playground! There will be holiday trees to purchase or to donate to families in need, yummy treats baked by Ross families to buy, hot drinks, sandwich making for a DC charity and other fun activities for the kids!
When: This Saturday, Dec. 4, 9 am to 4 pm
Where: On the Ross field and playground
How you can help: In addition to coming out to show support for our community, we still have a number of volunteer opportunities. Click here and see below for more information on how to sign up for a shift to sell and/or deliver trees, to bake treats for the bake sale or to sign up for a shift to work the bake sale.
And we have a special volunteer opportunity to help our broader community! What better way to kick off the season giving than volunteering your time to help others?
At this year's Ross Holiday Festival, the PTA will host a sandwich-making event for Martha's Table, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Ross cafeteria. Due to COVID restructions, we are limited to 12 kids at a time by grade cluster. Sign up at the links below:
Parent volunteers are welcome as long as they have DCPS clearance AND have been fully vaccinated. Otherwise, this is a drop-off event for students. Sign up here!
If you can't make it on Saturday, you can still help out! Please send a bag of sliced whole wheat sandwich bread sometime this week. We will be collecting donations in the Ross lobby.
Did you know ...
· One in six households in the District struggle to afford enough food.
· One in three children in the District experience food insecurity, and don’t know where they will get their next meal.
· On any given night, there are 8,350 homeless people in the District, including thousands of children.
Our goal is to make at least 500 meat and cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches will be distributed on McKenna’s Wagon, the Martha's Table volunteer-run, mobile food truck.
If you have any questions, please contact Alison Brody at brody.alison@gmail.com. And, finally, a BIG THANK YOU to Safeway and Ross parent Saka Reynolds for donating the supplies!
We hope to see you on Saturday,
The Ross PTA
Volunteer to Bake and Sell!
We need families to donate baked goods and volunteers to cover shifts to staff the table and help with set-up and clean-up. Volunteers get free coffee and hot chocolate!
Sell and Deliver Trees!
Sign up here for shift!
Preorder discounts end on Friday!
Preorder your tree on the Ross website for a discount, through Dec 3. And consider donating a tree to a neighbor who otherwise wouldn't have one.
