At this time, we are still seeing a new case rate above 15 per 100,000, and the testing positivity rate continues to hover around 5%. After consulting with Dr. Wadley, we have decided to continue with all Virtual Learning for the week of December 7.

We will provide an update on Wednesday, December 9 regarding our decision for the week of December 14. Please remain vigilant and making safe decisions so that we can bring our children back into our school buildings as soon as possible.

With TCPS remaining in the virtual model for the week beginning December 7th, all extracurricular activities including the planned beginning of the winter sports season will continue to be suspended until the health metrics indicate it is safe to resume these activities. Thank you for your patience.

This link is now live for all TCPS students in grades PK-12 to access TCPS eResources at home! http://www.tcfl.org/eresources/ Follow the link to check out the login page for students and to see the links they can access. Each student has a unique login which is TCFL plus the first 5 digits of their lunch number. There will be more information to come from TCFL that will encourage and support students and families in utilizing the link and resources.

In addition to the digital student card, all students/families can use this login information to access the patron computers at both TCFL locations. Also, this digital student card provides every student 10 copies per day on the TCFL copiers!

White Marsh Elementary School is proud to recognize Susan Delean Botkin and Mickey Terrone as TCPS Community Partner(s) of the Month. Ms. Delean-Botkin and Mr. Terrone have supplied our students with a large amount of school supplies, and they have participated in American Education Week by reading to our pre-k students, providing each Pre-K student with stickers to along with the story. Susan and Mickey also purchased clear smile face masks for the WMES staff and students, and they have been Character Counts coaches for our 4th grade classes.

We sincerely thank you, Susan and Mickey, for continuing your partnership with White Marsh Elementary School! Your contributions have made a positive impact on the education of our students, and we look forward to our continued success through this collaboration!

This Fall Talbot County Public Schools Interactive Media Production Career and Technology Pathway hosted its fifth annual ‘Design-In,’ in which students competed in 6 hours of rigorous and fun design challenges. Advisory board members Rayn Colbourne and local animator McKenzie Bugg, both Easton High Interactive Media pathway completers, served as judges for the evening’s event.

This year’s event was hosted completely virtually, with teams attending via zoom to receive challenges and meet with team members in breakout rooms. The challenges ranged from 10 min to 1 hour, and included creating a “font monster” exclusively out of typography, designing a logo in 10 minutes and then showing how it would apply to two surprise objects (such as a pumpkin and a candy bar), and creating a 10 minute Photoshop or Illustrator icon inspired by a famous Halloween character.

During the final challenge, Design Mad Libs: chaos campaign, students had to apply the ridiculous demands of a fictional client that was invented by completing a “Mad Libs” specially designed for the event by Easton High School’s Interactive Media Teacher, Garnette Hines. Following this year’s “Friday the 13th” theme, students created branding for a Halloween haunted house and had to incorporate ridiculous design constraints including: “Mom: 96 missed calls,” the color burgandy, pinapple pizza, and the “clients” that included Jack Skellington, Wednesday Addams, and Chucky.

Not only did students have to meet the unexpected criteria and tight deadlines of the design challenges, they had to figure out how to brainstorm together and unify their designs as a team. This event gave students the chance to apply their creative problem-solving skills and experience the challenges of the design world. Despite the challenges of an unusual school year, Easton High School’s Interactive Media Production teacher Garnette Hines feels it is more important than ever to celebrate students’ creativity and resiliency.

All teams competed for the coveted prizes of the evening, which included a gift card to sponsor 10 Perfect Nails in Easton and Vinyl stickers from sponsor Bay Imprint. The winning team, Heathers (inspired by the 1980’s cult classic film), were Easton High School seniors Haley McMaster, Galen Thomas, and Vlad Rada. All plan on furthering their education in design and pursuing careers in the field of Interactive Media.

Breakfast and Lunch will be provided free of charge for all students attending school in person. Students will also have the option to take home a bag of free meals for the days they will not be attending in person. Evening meal pick up will still be offered at all locations except Easton High School on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. for all children ages 2-18.
